Chapter 378: Not Doing It

"If they are really trying to bring Amorphous back to life, I don’t believe it’s anything good," Seth said. Unusually talkative over this topic now that they had opened it. Or maybe he was glad that he could finally talk about this matter to someone without being hushed. Killian knew very well what happened whenever the topic of witches, magic, and what harm they could bring to the shifter community started. So, he remained quiet and allowed Seth to talk, letting him say as much as he wished. Coupled with his curiosity and thirst for knowledge, Killian didn’t ask Seth to stop, even when something in his mind kept yelling at him that he couldn’t listen to this sick ritual anymore.

But this was the reality. Even if he didn’t want to listen to it anymore, he had to. Killian knew that, because no matter how sick and twisted this entire thing might be, only by learning more about it would he be able to get a much better understanding of the witch who was behind all this fuckery. The one who killed so many innocent shifters and humans without batting an eye.

"A piece of soul is ripped out every time they create a vessel for themselves."

"Does it not cause any imbalance?" Killian asked, needing to know how a witch could rip pieces of her soul so easily, like she was ripping a piece of paper.

"Of course it does cause imbalance," corrected Seth. "How can there not be an imbalance when she is cruelly ripping her own piece of soul out like that? The imbalance in her body is bound to become wider; why do you think she took the souls of so many shifters from the Silver Dawn pack? I am afraid it had little to do with the amorphous revival and more to do with easing the imbalance within her soul. For something that is out of balance, we usually need supplements. "The best supplements are young ones or babies. Which is the only explanation why the Silver Dawn Pack had no children."

The room felt even colder than it did earlier. Killian glanced at the electric fire that was burning in the room and clicked his tongue in a poor attempt to suppress the nausea rolling at the back of his throat.

"And you knew that this was happening?" Killian grunted.

"I knew that there was something weird going on in the Silver Dawn pack; there was something really off about their alpha. All that talk about how he was able to live a peaceful life with the humans and urging more rogues and humans to settle down in his territory—well, it didn’t sit right with me. I would have gone there myself, but..." He trailed off. Being the descendant of an angel came with a rather troublesome add-on of becoming a sacrifice when required.

"So are there anymore breeding farms?" Killian asked, cutting to the chase. Now that he knew that the Silver Dawn Pack only lured humans and shifters to their territory to give birth to more children whom they could sacrifice to the witch, Killian didn’t believe that they were the only ones who were tempted by what the witch had to offer. His experience while hunting down the people behind the site had proved this long, long ago.
