Anastasia’s eyes flew open, shock written all over her face as she stared at him.
For a split second—maybe she imagined it—she thought she caught a flicker of discomfort on Harrison’s impossibly handsome face.
“Don’t girls usually like pink? You don’t like this one?” he asked.
Anastasia’s eyes instantly sparkled. She nodded eagerly. “I love it, I love it! Hubby, you have great taste!”
Without hesitation, she grabbed another matching mug and dropped it into the cart, beaming. “Let’s get these, then!”
Watching how easily she was coaxed into happiness, Harrison’s usually cool and distant gaze softened, just for a moment.
After the toothbrush mugs, Anastasia dragged him off to pick out matching toothbrushes, matching tumblers, even matching face towels—if there was a couple’s version, she wanted it.
Harrison played along without complaint, tall and poised, completely ignoring the stares from passersby. He stayed half a step behind her, his eyes never leaving her figure.
It was as though he was both guarding her and silently declaring, “she’s mine”.
Logan trailed behind at a respectful distance, ready to step in if Harrison needed anything. As he watched Mr. Harrison Lancaster unblinkingly approve every pastel pink, soft yellow, and girlishly cute item that went into the cart, his shock wore off and gave way to numb acceptance.
All he could think was:
Mrs. Lancaster is seriously impressive.
Probably the only person alive who could get Mr. Harrison Lancaster to use anything pink.
Once they’d finished with household essentials, Anastasia’s eyes lit up again as they passed the fresh foods section. She darted over and grabbed a few ingredients.
“What are you buying those for?” Harrison asked.
Even though the apartment was newly bought, Logan had already arranged everything—including daily deliveries of fresh groceries.
“I want to cook for you, Hubby!” Anastasia declared.
She’d only glanced at a few online recipes, but her confidence was unwavering. She was sure she could pull it off… probably.
Harrison paused, then said simply, “Alright.”
