After promising Anastasia, Logan had no choice but to steel himself and step into the study.

Harrison glanced up from his paperwork. “What is it?”

Logan cleared his throat. “Ahem, there’s something I need to report to Mr. Harrison Lancaster…”

Harrison listened as he spoke, then frowned. “These sorts of minor issues—just let the team handle them.”

As he spoke, Harrison capped his pen and got ready to leave.

Seeing this, Logan hurriedly added, “There’s something else, sir!”

Harrison, who had started to rise, paused and sat back down, giving Logan a look. “Go on.”

Logan rattled off a few more matters—nothing earth-shattering, but not exactly trivial either. The sort of issues that would put middle management in a bind.

At first, Harrison only half-listened, his mind elsewhere. But as Logan continued, Harrison suddenly stopped short, his piercing gaze fixing on him.

Logan felt his scalp prickle. He pretended not to notice and kept on with his report.

“Logan.” Harrison’s voice cut through the air.

“Mr. Harrison Lancaster!” Logan straightened up immediately.

“Are you telling me you can’t even handle these routine matters?” Harrison’s tone was cool, almost casual. “Or is this your way of reminding me that I need to find someone new for your position?”

“N-no, sir, that’s not—”

Under the weight of Harrison’s stare, Logan could barely raise his head.

Harrison checked the time and stood, clearly intending to head upstairs.

Panic rising, Logan instinctively blocked his path. “Mr. Harrison Lancaster—”

“Is there something else?” Harrison’s eyes were cold and fathomless.

Sweat broke out on Logan’s forehead. “N-no, sir…”

All of a sudden, something dawned on Harrison. His expression darkened in an instant. He shoved Logan aside and strode purposefully toward the master bedroom.
