By now, breakfast hours had long passed, but the kitchen was still busy preparing food—Harrison’s instructions, of course. He knew she’d wake up hungry.

He had a full day ahead, plenty of matters to manage, but he showed no intention of leaving her for work. In the dining room, he cradled her gently in his arms, patiently and tenderly feeding her breakfast.

It was just like yesterday, but today his young wife was sweet as could be. She nestled in his embrace, swinging her legs lightly, opening her mouth whenever he offered a bite, perfectly content to be doted on.

Now and then, she’d let out a soft little whine, playfully complaining about this ache or that discomfort, and his heart melted every time.

Harrison pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head. Watching her in his arms, the hardness in his features softened, warmth flickering in his cool blue eyes.

Logan stood in the doorway, watching the scene unfold with a sense of wonder.

Who would have thought, not long ago, when the new Mrs. Lancaster first set foot in Rosewood Manor, she’d been so cautious, always tiptoeing around Mr. Harrison Lancaster, eager to please.

And now? In just a short while, it was Mr. Harrison Lancaster who was holding her close, coaxing and comforting her.

Once breakfast was done and Harrison turned to his work, Anastasia didn’t cling to him. She slipped from his arms, stretching as she declared she wanted to go for a walk.

She hadn’t even taken a step before her hand was caught.

Harrison’s gaze was quietly intense. “You won’t bother me. If you want, Ana, you can read in my study.”

She often read at home, and though she had her own little library, she had moved most of her medical books to his study.

Anastasia swung their joined hands. “But I want to get some fresh air.”

She still felt a little under the weather, but sitting around only made it worse; she wanted to move.

She knew what he was worried about, so she added quickly, “I’ll just go to the garden. I won’t wander off, I promise!”

His study happened to overlook the garden—so as long as she didn’t stray too far, he could keep an eye on her from upstairs.

Finally, Harrison let her go, ruffling her hair. “Alright, go on then.”

Anastasia trotted out to the garden. Instinctively, she glanced up toward the study window—and there he was, standing at the glass, tall and striking, his presence impossible to miss even at a distance.

The air was already tinged with autumn chill, but the look he gave her seemed to wrap her in warmth. Her heart fluttered, beating a little faster.
