But then again, maybe it wasn’t that unusual—there were plenty of people driving cars like that.
“Who’s that?” Anastasia asked casually.
The driver replied, “There are so many people who want to meet Mr. Harrison Lancaster every day. Probably just another one hoping to get lucky.”
But clearly, whoever it was hadn’t succeeded—now they were stuck outside the gates, unable to get in.
Anastasia turned her attention away as their car smoothly rolled through the open gates of Rosewood Manor.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the gate, Shirley was in an absolutely foul mood.
She’d imagined visiting Mr. Harrison Lancaster would go off without a hitch. But to her shock, she’d been stopped at the entrance!
“Do you have any idea who I am? My fiancé is Mr. Harrison Lancaster’s nephew!” she snapped.
Aaron was supposed to be Mr. Lancaster’s favorite nephew, and yet these gatekeepers actually dared to block her way!
The security guard was unmoved. “Sorry, ma’am. Mr. Lancaster isn’t seeing anyone. Please leave.”
Every day, people came up with all sorts of excuses to try and meet Mr. Lancaster. Some of them even had impressive backgrounds. But so what if her fiancé really was Mr. Lancaster’s nephew? That still didn’t mean she had the right to see him.
Fuming, Shirley pulled out her phone to call Aaron, but just then she caught sight of another car gliding past the gate.
She didn’t see who was inside—just the faint outline of a woman—and watched as the car was waved straight through with no questions asked.
Her face darkened. “Who was that? Why was she allowed in?”
The guard gave her a cool glance. Who was that? That was the one person at Rosewood Manor no one dared offend—Mr. Lancaster’s most cherished guest.
But Mr. Lancaster had made it clear: her identity was not to be revealed. So the guard replied blandly, “She’s allowed in because she belongs here at Rosewood Manor.”
Shirley’s heart skipped a beat. “Someone from Rosewood Manor?”
But that was a woman. Why would a woman be living at Rosewood Manor? Wasn’t Mr. Lancaster supposed to be famously indifferent toward women?
