Seeing how worried he was, Anastasia almost forgot about the pain in her stomach. Her pretty features drooped, and she murmured, “My stomach hurts.”

No sooner had the words left her lips than the world spun around—Harrison scooped her up into his arms in one swift motion!

He carried her straight to the car and commanded Logan, his tone low and urgent, “Drive to the hospital.”

“No, wait…!” Anastasia clung to his shoulder, trying to stop him. “I just need to go home and rest—”

Harrison’s lips pressed into a thin, unyielding line, making it clear he had no intention of listening. He shot Logan a sharp glance.

The car sped off. Anastasia only had time to wave goodbye to Juliet and the others outside before they vanished from sight.

She turned, resting her head on Harrison’s shoulder, mortified as she whispered, “It’s just… you know… that time of the month…”

Harrison frowned, not quite catching her meaning. “What?”

Blushing, Anastasia leaned closer and murmured in his ear, “I’m just on my period.”

He paused, a hint of relief flickering across his face, but looking at her pale, sweat-dampened cheeks, he refused to budge. “Be good and let the doctor take a look.”

Back at the sidewalk, everything had happened so fast that Maggie and the other two were left rooted in place, barely able to process it.

They watched the car disappear in the blink of an eye and slowly turned away, bewildered.

Maggie glanced at her phone. “Juliet, your cousin’s husband got here fast! It’s only been three minutes, right?”

Juliet finally relaxed, seeing her cousin whisked away. “He bought an apartment close to campus.”
