Grinning from ear to ear like a goofball, Daniel said, “Mrs. Alice, you’re finally out. Mr. Eric’s been worried sick about you.”

As he spoke, he glanced nervously at the backscat window.

It was rolled up tight.

“I took my meds,” he said calmly, like he was just making a business report.
