Boston froze.

Until now, he’d been too distracted by Risa’s mess to consider other angles.

Linda might have been kidnapped.

“What? This is bad. We need to talk with the club manager,” he said sharply. “Check the surveillance footage. I want to know exactly what happened to Linda.”

His assistant was already dialing.

Moments later, to everyone’s surprise, Linda picked up.

Everyone was shocked.

She wasn’t kidnapped?

The assistant, hoping to clear his name, quickly turned on speakerphone.

“What’s wrong?” Linda’s voice came through, calm as ever. No sign of panic. Nothing suspicious.

But the background was loud–men laughing, shouting, and singing karaoke. A whole party, it seemed.

Trying to keep his tone low, the assistant asked, “Ms. Linda, where are you right now? Mr. Boston’s really worried. I can come pick you up.”

Linda chuckled softly. “I’m just out having dinner with some friends. Tell Boston not to worry. He’s got a match coming up, right? I’ll be there to cheer him on.”

As always, her tone was warm, gentle, and full of understanding.

The assistant hesitated. After a long pause, he cautiously asked, “Ms. Linda, the thing you mentioned to Mr. Boston on the phone earlier, was that real?”

It was a vague question–deliberately so. He was trying to get her to spill something.

Boston didn’t look happy about it, but he said nothing.

“Where is Boston?”

On the other end of the line, Linda went quiet. Clearly, she had stepped out of the private room.

Boston looked up–just across the hallway.

That area was reserved for VIPs. Money alone couldn’t get you in.

He looked awful.

His gaze was sharp and cold–like venom dipped in ice.

It made her heart drop.

She might have gone too far.

But then she reassured herself.

It wasn’t like she’d said anything that bad. When she’d called Boston carlier, she had intentionally left things vague–just enough to lead him into catching Alice in the act.

Because Boston was a celebrity, the moment he showed up, someone would post about Mrs. Nolan meeting with a male model.

Then the gossip blogs would do the rest. Alice would be trending before midnight.

But now things weren’t going according to plan.

“Boston,” she said quickly, hurrying over to him, a look of concern plastered on her face.

“What’s wrong? Are you hurt?”

Boston looked at her. His voice was flat, unreadable.

“I’m fine. Who were you with just now?”

Linda dropped her gaze. She didn’t want the Spencers to know about her relationship with Les.

“Just some friends,” she replied. “They wanted to hang out and booked a private room here.”

Boston stared at her. “Private rooms in this place cost 10,000 an hour, even if you’re not eating or drinking.”

Linda lowered her head even more.

“I didn’t want to come,” she whispered, tears spilling down her cheeks.

“But they mocked me. Said I wasn’t the Spencers‘ daughter anymore. Said now that Alice is shining because of that chess tournament, I’d be sent off to the countryside.”

She broke down, sobbing uncontrollably.

No one comforted her, but after a while, she kept going.

“I told them my brothers love me. That they’d never abandon me.

“But they said unless I could still afford to come to a place like this, no one would believe I was still the

heiress.

“I didn’t want you guys to be mocked too. So I used my own savings. Money you all gave me. Gifts.
