Kayla looked defeated. “I sent someone to check, the makeup artist is gone.”

“And her daughter?”

Yvette nearly flipped the table.

Eliza came stumbling over, eyes full of panic and desperation.

“Kayla, Ms. Martinez, please–you have to help me!”

Yvette shoved her aside with disgust.

Eliza fell to the ground hard. Cameras immediately clicked as reporters rushed to snap pictures.

She clenched her fists, forcing down her frustration.

“Are you sure she’s just some girl from a small town?”

“My info says she barely ever left the hill town she grew up in. No phone, no internet, completely cut off

Kayla frowned. “If that’s true, she should be completely clueless.

How could someone like that be this well–connected? Why do these powerful people like her so much?”

She glanced over at Ryan.

He was still chatting with Levi, clearly impressed by him.

“This investigation wasn’t good enough. We need to dig deeper. Something’s off.”

Sandy nodded, starting to feel the same way.

“Okay, I’ll ask my mom to help.”

Kayla gave a small nod. If Ruby got involved, they’d get results fast.

Over by the studio, Ryan was congratulating Levi.

Ryan noticed Boston standing a few steps away and sneered.

“It’s a shame. Some people are holding a treasure in their hands and still think it’s a burden.”
