Alice gave a small nod.

She glanced at him, then turned to look at Emma.

Clayton, clearly flustered now, shifted awkwardly under her gaze.

Even Emma looked confused.

“Alice, what are you looking at?”

Alice just smiled.

“I’m curious, that’s all.”

“Huh?” Emma blinked, not understanding.

But Alice didn’t expose Clayton’s little secret.

From the side, Sandy’s eyes practically sparked with fury.

“Eric, Alice, you two must be really free. The company’s a mess, and here you are strolling through the hospital.”

Eric turned to glance at her.

His eyes were cold–ice cold.

Sandy flinched.

But with Andy around, she quickly ducked behind him.

Andy raised a hand.

“Mr. Eric, aren’t you being a little too intense?

“That issue you consulted me on before–I’ve got an answer for it now.”

Eric’s tone stayed frosty.

“Dr. Brown, it was five years ago when I came to you for consultation, wasn’t it?”

Andy nodded.

Eric pressed on.

“It’s been five years. Even the best medicine has an expiration date of three years.

“Do you seriously expect me to trust something that took five years to figure out?”

Daniel almost clapped.

Andy wasn’t offended, though.

If anything, he looked thoughtful.

“You’re right. Conditions change fast. Spending five years chasing one symptom is.. shortsighted.

“That was my mistake. I’m sorry I couldn’t help you back then.”

Eric gave a flat, emotionless reply. “It’s fine.”

Daniel puffed up smugly.

“Mr. Eric’s doing just fine now. Dr. Brown, you don’t need to worry about a thing”

Andy didn’t know what to say.

Daniel was clearly calling him useless, but he couldn’t argue.

He truly hadn’t been of any help.

Meanwhile, Sandy felt like she’d been turned invisible. Her expression darkened.

And Clayton? He was too busy chatting with Emma. He even laughed out loud.

The sight made Sandy seethe with jealousy.

“Dr. Brown, weren’t you going to check on me?”

She snapped, suddenly bossy.

It was like she was talking to her servant, not a doctor.

Andy frowned.

But seeing how much she resembled Ruby, he gave in.

“Fine. Come with me.”

Sandy shot a smug look at Clayton.

She wanted him to see it–see that even the great Andy treated her like royalty.

But Clayton didn’t seem to care.

He didn’t even look at them.

Sandy was stumped.

Marvin asked again, “Uncle Andy, are you really not coming back?”

Andy turned and walked away.

Sandy shot Emina a venomous glare before trailing after him.

Alice walked over to Clayton.

“You’ve got a lot of admirers.”

He looked helpless. “Please don’t tease me, Ms. Spencer.”

Alice smirked and gave Emma a knowing glance.

This whole thing was starting to feel like a comedy.

One wants him. He wants another. The other wants the first.

A tangled triangle of “you chase me, I chase her.”

“Let’s go,” Eric said, his tone colder now that he noticed how close Alice was standing to Clayton. His chest felt tight with jealousy.

“Alright.”

Marvin rushed up to them.
