Daniel’s heart thudded in fear.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Eric.”

Eric’s gaze were cold and sharp. “Don’t make the same mistake again.”

“Yes, sir.”

Just as Daniel spoke, the car door opened, and a faint scent of floral swept through the vehicle.

Daniel snapped back to attention and started the engine.

Eric glanced at the woman beside him. She looked relaxed, even a little languid.

Then he checked the time on his watch and said calmly, “You’ve got 15 more minutes to sleep.”

Alice blinked. I’m too curious to sleep.”

But Eric was a patient man. He said nothing.

Outside, the rising sun cast a golden glow over the streets.

The warmth of morning seeped into the car, and Alice, lulled by it, nearly dozed off.

She was right on the edge of sleep when Eric’s voice cut through the silence.

“We’re here.”

Alice opened her eyes with a silent groan. So much for a nap.

She shot him a look full of protest..

Eric raised a brow. “I brought you here to see a show.”

Now that sparked her interest.

“Mr. Oscar,” she said carefully, “this really shouldn’t be added to my medical expenses.”

She wasn’t kidding–after all, once the divorce happened, she still planned to wring a decent sum out of him. No way was she letting him sneak in free gifts now.

Eric glanced sideways. Did he look like someone who would go back on his bills?

Alice looked out the window. “Where is this place?”

She hadn’t spent much time in Mapleford and didn’t recognize the area.

But judging by the lush greenery and open space, it had to be on the outskirts.

The city center had no room for trees anymore.

Every inch was either paved over or stacked with glass–and–steel towers.

Eric finally answered. “Nolan Group has a car manufacturing facility here.”

As he spoke, Alice rolled down her window and looked ahead.

The factory was huge–at least 16 acres by her guess.

At this early hour, workers were just clocking in, and the air fh casual chatter and

laughter.

Alice frowned.

What were they doing here? Delivering a car?

But that hardly counted as a show.

How was she going to enjoy it?

Eric must’ve guessed what she was thinking, because he gave a single order.

“Do it.”

Daniel’s entire body tensed.

Without another word, the car lunged forward–straight toward the factory gate.

The entrance was usually kept locked. One reason was to prevent unauthorized access.

The other, to stop inside workers from contacting outsiders and leaking sensitive information.

But Daniel didn’t slow down. The car was rammed into the front gate.

The factory gate was solid–built to withstand pressure. Even under the force of the impact, all it suffered was a deep dent and a few cracks across the metal.

Daniel’s face remained like stone, unreadable and cold.

Then, without hesitation, he hit the gas again.

Inside the factory, the cheerful chatter and laughter came to a screeching halt.

A beat of stunned silence followed.

And then–screams. Shrill, panicked.

But Daniel turned a deaf ear to this. He rammed the gate one more time.

Boom!

The

sate collapsed with a crash, throwing up a thick cloud of dust and rust flakes.

The car’s front bumper was now visibly crushed, but it didn’t stop moving. It kept going, pushing its way into the factory compound with stubborn force.

Alice looked up and glanced around.

There were dozens of vehicles inside the yard. Many of them were already loaded onto massive transport trucks, ready to be shipped out.

From the number of outgoing shipments, it was easy to tell–this factory was turning a solid profit.

Daniel kept driving for about another minute before a group of more than ten men rushed over to block the path.

“Who are you people?! You can’t just break in here like this!”

Eric slowly rolled down the car window.

“Get Mr. Lawrence.”

The group laughed out loud, completely unfazed. “And who do you think you are, barking3/6
