Alice was totally confused. “Can you just explain everything all at once?”

Daniel awkwardly scratched the back of his head.

“Actually, Mr. Eric doesn’t really like pets.”

Alice froze in place.

Daniel happily climbed into the car, holding the little dog.

The dog wasn’t very clean, and pretty soon, the car smelled weird.

Eric didn’t react at all.

Alice smiled a little. “Mr. Eric, since you’ve been wanting to exercise more lately, maybe you can give the dog a bath when we get home?”

Eric didn’t reply.

For a moment, his usually cold face softened.

Daniel’s heart skipped a beat.

Meanwhile, the dog blinked its big, shiny black eyes and glanced around, looking like it was glad to have a new family.

The car pulled up to the villa. When they parked, the dog jumped out confidently and started checking out its new place like it owned the whole thing.

Daniel sighed. “Wow, you really make yourself at home.”

Still, he picked up the dog and carried it to the shower room.

Even though Alice had mentioned it, he definitely wasn’t about to let Eric bathe the dog.

Otherwise, the dog would be in serious trouble.

So this had to be Sandy, angry and ready to pick a fight.

Alice wasn’t in the mood for drama and hung up immediately.

Finally unable to ignore it, Alice answered.

“Alice, don’t get too full of yourself.”

That was Sandy’s first words.

Alice smiled playfully. “Hearing you so worked up just makes me feel better. What do you want me to do?”

She could almost hear Sandy grinding her teeth on the other end.

“Watch it!”

Sandy took a deep breath, sounding sharp. “Do you think Eric has fallen for you now?”

Alice snorted. “What gave you that idea?”

Sandy sneered, “You’re only this bold because you helped Eric get that car. That was why you were rude to my mom.”

Alice laughed out loud.

“I don’t think that’s the case.”

“Eric practices the faith, so basically, he’s kind of obsessed with you.

“Oh, and don’t forget–that car you fought so hard for tonight?

“That was a gift from the same woman.”

Sandy laughed louder now, even more bold than before.

“Hurts, doesn’t it?

“The race car you risked everything for is actually a love token between Eric and someone else.

“Feeling like crying yet?”
