Eric pressed his lips tight. “How are you gonna pay me?”

Alice shrugged. “You know I’m broke.”

He was stunned.

Mr. Eric has just started recovering and is still weak.

Isn’t Mrs. Nolan being way too pushy?

And judging by Mr. Eric’s tone, he said no because of his health.

But Mrs. Nolan insisted on him “giving it to her,” even offering to pay.
