Millie’s reply was calm but cutting. “I’ve told you already, I am not a homewrecker. The situation has been cleared up, and the truth is out. Ms. Delaney, if you insist on calling me that again, I won’t hesitate to defend my dignity and reputation through legal means.”

Kirsten rolled her eyes, barely hiding her scorn. “Oh, please. Don’t drag the law down to your level.”

If truth and justice were really on the side of someone like her, what would the world be coming to?

Millie’s expression tightened. She had no interest in continuing this pointless argument.

“I don’t debate with fools. There’s nothing more to say.” With that, she turned and walked away, choosing to wait elsewhere.

Watching Millie’s retreating back, Kirsten couldn’t help but let out a disbelieving laugh.
