Tara caught the hint that he was deliberately telling her this. She turned her face away and replied in mock casualness, "It's probably just a coincidence."

Soren pinched her cheek. "Who knows, maybe I used to have a crush on you before."

After pinching her cheek, he seemed momentarily stunned. He then stared at his hand before shifting his gaze to her cheek.

Tara quickly shook her head. "Impossible. Back when I worked at Bayhaven Villa, you all barely tolerated me because of how I acted. So, there was no way you would have had a secret crush on me."

Soren pinched her cheek again. "Have I ever pinched your cheek before?"

Tara almost nodded instinctively but caught herself just in time. She immediately shook her head and said, "No, this is the first time."

Skeptical, Soren narrowed his eyes. Why did this feel so familiar then?

Tara was afraid he might remember. Even though she knew it was impossible, it was better to be safe than to be sorry.

She quickly shifted the topic by asking him, "Are we flying directly to Bellington later?"

"Yeah, sorry to put you through all that travel."

Tara nodded. Soren seemed to really like her. Even when she lowered her head, he couldn't help but smile and kiss her hair.

She called Mandy to say goodbye, and before leaving, she also said farewell to Elaine. After all, there would be few chances to meet again.

The car sped down the road.

Soren seemed to be in a good mood. He was all smiles as he drove home with his beloved by his side.

While driving, he recalled their second meeting. Tara was carefully watering the flowers, and the sight of her in that moment struck him as utterly stunning.

That playboy Clyde had taken a fancy to her, so Soren had someone send him away, forbidding him from so much as glancing at Tara again. A player like him wasn't even worthy of looking at her.

"Have you ever had a boyfriend before?"

Tara was sitting in the passenger seat. His question made her grip the seatbelt across her chest tightly. She opened her mouth, wanting to say something but didn't know how to respond.

Silence settled between them.

Seeing that Soren had no intention of changing the subject or dropping the question, she answered honestly, "I have dated before."

Soren didn't press her further. The car fell into silence, and the atmosphere lost the ease it had before the question.

Tara hated herself for being so stupid. Why didn't she think of using this excuse to drive Soren away? If she had just told him she had been in two relationships before, maybe none of this would have happened.

"I should've told you earlier. The truth is, you and I aren't really a good match. I'm not as pure as you think I am, and I've had two boyfriends before," she said softly.

Since Soren was driving, Tara didn't want to go too deep into it. But he should understand what she meant.

Soren laughed lightly at her sensitivity. "So what if you've dated before? I noticed in your file that it mentioned you've never had a boyfriend, and I was curious why."

Tara hesitated for a moment before answering, "Maybe there was a mistake."

Soren kept his eyes on the road. "Please be good to me then."

Tara obediently followed him. Holding her hand, he led her to the first-class lounge.

The flight to Bellington took over two hours. Throughout the journey, she barely spoke, apart from answering his questions.

Upon arrival in Bellington, Tara stayed close beside Soren as they got into the luxury car waiting for them.

Soren's schedule had been arranged on short notice. Although several people recognized him at the airport, no fans were among them, so there was no fan reception.

As Soren and Tara walked hand in hand, someone took a photo of them. He didn't mind in the slightest and even waved at the passerby who snapped the picture.

Once they were inside the car, the driver started the engine. The front and rear seats were separated, offering some privacy.

Seeing how obedient she was, Soren couldn't help but wrap his arms around her waist. He then took off his mask and bent down to kiss her.

Tara was caught off guard by the sudden kiss. The intensity of it sent a shiver through her, and she quickly raised her hand to stop him before things went too far.

After breaking free from his lips, she whispered, "Not in the car. It's not appropriate."

Unable to resist the dazed look in her eyes, he cupped the back of her head and kissed her with burning intensity.

About 40 minutes later, the car pulled into a gated villa community and came to a stop in the underground garage of one of the homes.

Tara stepped out, biting her lip, and was immediately pulled into Soren's arms as he strode over.

After pressing a kiss to her dark hair, he said huskily, "You've had a long journey. I know it wasn't easy on you."
