Tara’s response made Jonah raise an eyebrow, seemingly caught off guard. He calmly scanned her up and down before asking, “Why did you turn him down?”

Tara met his gaze with confusion. “Why can’t 17”

Tara immediately tumed and exited his room. She wasn’t at all surprised by Jonah’s question. After all, with her looks, she could easily leverage it to climb the social ladder. She figured that he was subtly warning her not to get any ideas. at least not about his friends.

Tara retumed to the first–tioor kitchen and put the cart back in place. Her shift was nearly over, so she beaded to the time clock right on schedule. After clocking out, she ran into Betty.

Betty quietly pulled her aside. “Just now, Stella was scolded by Mr. Daldry. She was so upset that she ended up crying.

Tara was surprised. After all, Terence adored Stella, the female lead. So how could be bear to reprimand her? There hadn’t been any significant mistakes tonight, had there?

Betty continued, “Rumor has it that Mr. Oakley gave Stella a warning for behaving inappropriately in front of guests, which greatly displeased them.”

Without giving Tare a chance to say anything, Betty whispered, “At the party tonight, I saw Stella tearing up in front of Mr. Swain and Mr. Wilhelm. She seemed upset about them inviting many women to the party.”

Betty had probably been holding in this information for a long time, so she spilled everything immediately.

Noticing her eager, gossipy expression, Tara stifled a laugh before sobering. “Don’t gossip about such things in the future. It’s not good.”
