"Fine." He nodded, his voice edged with frost. "When you and Glen set a date, let me know. I'll have Julian deliver a generous wedding gift."

Since he insisted on dragging Glen into every other sentence, Tiffany saw no need to explain herself. "Great. I'll count on your wedding gift to fund my retirement."

She stepped back half a pace and slammed the door shut. The heavy bang echoed down the hallway.

Outside, Raymond almost laughed in frustration.

He turned and strode home. The resignation approval letter lay on the coffee table.

He lifted his leg and kicked the corner hard. "Resign my ass."

The irritation had barely begun to fade when the phone he had tossed onto the sofa rang again.

"Ray."

He answered, voice clipped. "What?"
