Sydney did not give the message much thought at first. Only after she changed and went downstairs did she understand what "the others" meant.

In addition to Peter and Nathan, five more bodyguards waited outside. The scene resembled a coordinated security detail.

Sydney: [Are you guarding against Tristan?]

Sydney's fingers tightened around her phone. She assumed a dubious friend of Megan's had stepped in.

She did not want to cause more trouble. Had she known Megan had escaped, she might not have left the house at all.

Julian responded at once.

Julian: [Relax. With Peter and the others there, she won't dare act openly.]

Sydney replied with a simple "Okay," reassured by his confidence.

She had called ahead, so James was already waiting at the gate when she arrived.

"You're here." The car door had barely opened before the usually reserved and composed man stepped forward, reaching out ahead of Peter to steady her with the easy familiarity of an older brother. "Slow down. You're cleared to be out already? How's your recovery?"

In recent days, the Huttons had wanted to visit her at Delta Mansion but held back. They did not want to disturb her rest. With Megan still at large, they also felt too ashamed to face her.

It seemed Julian had spared her those details.
