When Diana and Hugo arrived at the Kingston estate, Hugo's mother was already waiting in the living room.

The moment Clara saw them walk in one after the other, a smile spread across her face. "You little rascal. Why did you come back without a word?"

Hugo smiled faintly. "Do I need to announce myself before coming back to my own home?"

"Listen to yourself." Clara shot him a playful glare and tugged him down onto the sofa by the arm.

Then she immediately turned her attention to Diana, instructing the housekeeper to serve beverages and bring out fruit and snacks. She fussed over Diana so attentively that it bordered on excessive.

Hugo simply watched with a faint, unreadable smile that never reached his eyes.

"There's no need to fuss," Diana said. "Where's your husband?"

"He's taking a call in the study. He'll be down in a moment." Clara sat across from her and looked at her as though she wanted to say something but couldn't bring herself to do it.

Diana could already guess what was on her mind, so she spoke first. "If this is about Leon and me, I've already thought it through."

Clara's eyes immediately reddened. "Diana, Leon really does know he was wrong. Helen is gone, and he won't see her again. Just give him one more chance."

"The problem was never Helen." Diana's voice remained calm. "The problem is that Leon never put me first. Throughout our marriage, every time he had to choose between me and something else, he never chose me. What's the point of staying in a marriage like that?"

Clara opened her mouth but couldn't find the words to respond. Diana was telling the truth. No one understood Leon's character better than she did.

Footsteps sounded from the staircase.

Leon descended, but his steps faltered the moment he saw Diana. "You're here."

Diana glanced at him without replying.

Leon walked over and sat across from her. After a long silence, he finally spoke. "Diana, I know I didn't do well in the past, but people can change. Give me one chance, and I'll prove it to you."

"Prove it how?" Diana met his gaze. "Leon, we've been married for all these years. You've had countless chances to prove it, and you never did. Now that we're getting divorced, you say you'll change. Do you really think I should believe that?"

The color faded from Leon's face. "Diana—"

"There's no need to say any more." Diana rose to her feet. "I came today out of respect for your family. I've said everything that needed to be said. Don't come looking for me again after this."
