By the time dinner ended, night had fully fallen.

Florence walked toward the courtyard gate with James supporting her arm. She turned back again and again to remind Sydney, "It's cold. Don't come out to see us off. Go back inside before you catch a chill. I'll come again in a couple of days. Rest well for now and stop worrying about all those little things."

Sydney stood in the doorway with a smile, watching everyone get into the cars one by one.

Raymond came out last. As he passed Tiffany, he paused, glanced at her, and gave a slight nod before bending to get into his own car.

The taillights slowly receded into the night.

Tiffany stood in the courtyard with her coat collar pulled tighter around her neck, her eyes fixed on the spot where the taillights had disappeared. Only after a long moment did she finally look away.

Sydney slipped an arm through hers, and together they returned to the parlor.

Agatha told them to turn in early before heading to her room first.

Sydney could tell Tiffany had something on her mind, but she said nothing. She knew there was only so far she could push.

Later, when she noticed how late it had become, she spoke up. "You had some wine tonight. You can't drive. Why don't you stay over?"

Tiffany seemed lost in thought and only came back to herself when she heard the question. "Agatha's already gone to bed. I don't want to disturb her. I'll just call a car. If anything happens, call me right away."

The due date had not arrived yet, but Tiffany no longer dared to put her phone on silent, even at night. She was too afraid something might happen to Sydney.

"Then I'll have the driver take you home."

"All right."

No sooner had Tiffany agreed than footsteps sounded from upstairs.

Julian came downstairs with his car keys in hand. He glanced at Sydney and Tiffany before naturally picking up the conversation. "I'll drive her. I need to swing by the office to pick up a file anyway."

Sydney did not object. She simply reminded him, "Drive carefully. There's no need to rush."

Julian reached over and lightly patted the back of her head. "Got it. Go to bed early. Don't wait up."

He walked to the entryway to change his shoes. Tiffany had already picked up her bag, and the two of them left together.

The car pulled smoothly out of Delta Mansion.
