"So?" I asked.

"He saw you get taken, Eve. He blamed himself because he couldn't stop them. He felt like he disappointed your parents. Then you come back and tell him to get out of you room? Matthew thinks that you blame him. That its his fault" Shawn explained.

All I could say was a small 'Oh'.

"Look Eve. We've been friends forever, which is why I'm telling you this" Shawn started. "You need to turn back on your emotions. You have a whole species to rule. You're driving your mate crazy. You're pushing us all away, Eve. You're pushing Matthew away. He lost his parents, and now he's losing his sister"

"It's gonna hurt though" I said quietly as I played with the locket around my neck.

Shawn frowned. "I know. But remember what Gavin said? We'll all be here for you"

'You have to turn on your emotions' Hope's words rang in my head.

"Okay. Can you get Asher?" I asked.

Shawn nodded and a few minutes later, he walked back into the room with my mate.

"Ash-"

"I'm really sorry, Eve" Asher apologized. "I never should have yelled or used the Alpha voice. You're right, I'm in no position to do that. I keep messing up, and I am so sorry"

"Asher" I said softly. "I want-"

"What? I'll do anything" Asher cut me off.

I rolled my eyes. "First, I want you to stop interrupting me. Then you can help trigger my emotions"

Asher's eyes grew wide before he started grinning. "Really? You want to turn it back on?"

I nodded. "You and Shawn will trigger my emotions. But please try not to use the painful emotions" I said quietly.

Asher and Shawn nodded.

Asher

"What emotion are we gonna try first?" Shawn asked.

"Happiness?" Eve answered, though it sounded more like a question.

Shawn nodded. "I stocked the whole fridge with Orange Fanta. And I filled the pantry with Hot Cheetos"

"Seriously? You think soda and chips will trigger her emotions?" I raised an eyebrow at him.

"In my defense, its her favorite soda and her favorite chips" Shawn replied.

I rolled my eyes. "Junk food isn't gonna turn on her emotions"

That's all I felt. That's all I could feel, it overpowered the little amount of love that I was hanging on to; and it hurt like hell.

"Babe?" Shawn asked concerned, causing Asher to growl.

I leaned my head against the head board and tightly closed my eyes before any tears flowed out.

Everything hit me hard. My parents are dead. Their killer kidnapped me and tied up my little brother. My mate is a complete ass. He almost killed my wolf. I shouted at everyone. I hurt everyone. I even hurt Matthew.

The sorrow, disappointment, envy, melancholy, guilt- it filled my entire body and it was eating me up.

"Eve" Asher said softly.

I stayed silent and brought my knees up to my chest. I wrapped my arms around my legs then buried my face into my knees.

"Are you okay?" Shawn asked.

I pursed my lips to hold in a sob that was itching to get out. But I wouldn't cry. I couldn't cry because if I cried, I know that I wouldn't be able to stop. I shook my head to answer Shawn's question.

"Talk to us" Asher begged. But I couldn't talk. Because once I open my mouth, I would cry. I knew that no words would come out, just whimpers and sobs.
