Back at the lodge, Ally adamantly, strongly, and fiercely resisted the thought of moving from the pack’s territory. According to her, there was absolutely no need for her or anyone else to move the territory. They were much safer inside than outside.
"You are really going to take her word over mine. Are you seriously serious right now?" Ally asked, with her temper getting the best of her. With her finger pointing at Inez, she questioned angrily, "Why do we have to move just because she has a silly feeling? Don’t tell me that we all have to start listening to her wacky talk just because she is now with Kill."
"If you do not want to move, then you don’t have to. No one is asking you to," snapped Selene as she dropped the curtains, which she had pulled away to look outside the lodge. They had already mobilised most of the pack and asked them to visit their loved ones’ pack and only return when they tell them to in the pack link. Almost everyone listened to Selene’s command, as they all remembered that before Killian, the one who was going to become the alpha of the pack was Selene.
But there was always this one person who couldn’t see through the situation.
And in this situation, it was Ally.
No one expected Selene to suddenly lose her temper, as she had simmered down a lot after what happened to her. Even Ally was taken by surprise when she saw Selene raising her voice; it took a while for her to find her voice. She batted her fake lashes, and with her expression mirroring that of a goldfish, she simply stared at the woman in front of her. "What—what did you say? I am your pack member and you—"
"And that’s the only reason why I told you to move with us just now. Why did you think that we told you to come with us? Even when we knew that you would cause a scene? It’s because you are one of our pack members." Selene stared at the woman and fired a bunch of questions.
Ally didn’t have an answer to her question. She simply gaped at Selene before saying in a hurried voice, "I—ain’t I doing this for us? I believe that she has lost her mind. We are safer in here than outside. Why move all of a sudden?"
"I agree with her." Fenric glanced at Inez, whose face was pinched with worry. "What kind of danger are we even in that we cannot see it? Matt just told us that he did a perimeter check and there is nothing in there. So why are we even hiding? What are we hiding from?"
Fenric’s question seemed to resonate with the rest of the pack as well; that was right. What were they even hiding from? If there was something that was hidden in the shadows, they could at least see it. But Matt didn’t see anything, so what—
"Did you all see anything when our pack was attacked by those burning meteors? If yes, then why did no one tell us anything?"
Selene countered him right away, and Fenric flushed red in shame. He wanted to retort, but had nothing to say.
What was he supposed to even say at this point? That he did know that it was going to happen? But he didn’t, and if he did say that he didn’t, then wouldn’t that only justify what Selene said made sense?
