  ~Sebastians POV~

"Son, if you want her then why did you reject her?" The stupid old man didn’t get it. He was looking completely unbothered and dragged his fingers over his brow ridge.

"You don't understand! She’s my mate, i want her back!"

"But you rejected her and now she’s mated to Alpha Kade,"

"She was mine first and-" the door opened up and my fathers friend stepped inside. He always looked angry as fuck and now was no exception.

"Sir, you may want to take a look at this," he handed over something to my father and I growled as I walked around the table. His eyes widened and I ripped the papers from his hands. I was the Alpha now, I got to see information before anyone else.

"What are these?" They were pictures of werewolves who looked unlike any others. They were completely white like snow and ice blue eyes. Their teeth were sharp and their canines longer and thicker than your normal wolf. They were facing other wolves, it was odd because they weren't attacking, they were just staring into the eyes of the enemy with blood painting the fur around their mouths and snouts.

"it's them, they’ve been spotted," my brows furrowed and I held the pictures up in front of my father.

"Who’s been spotted? Who are these? What are these?" My father sighed and his friend stood by his side with an even fiercer glare in his eyes as he stared at the pictures. His voice was lower and darker than normal when he started telling me about them.

"They are the Emberclaws, a rare breed of werewolves who carry a special gene that allows them to have these…" he flicked his tongue and shook his head. "…These powers. They haven't been seen in decades and there has been no sighting or word of anyone else with that gene,"

"If they haven't been seen in decades then what’s this?" I asked and held the picture.

"They must've come out of hiding, nobody’s been able to spot them and for a while we thought they were extinct,"

"how would they be extinct?" My dad and his friend looked at each other and shared a silent message.

"Tell me!" I stomped my foot in the ground and looked at my father who was consciously avoiding my gaze.

"They were hunted down by others, by us partly and killed because of the threat that they posed,"

  "You killed them off?"

"Some but not all. They’re special, Sebastian, different in every way and they have powers that we can't understand or step up against. After the slaughter they went into hiding and haven't been seen since," my fathers friend grabbed the pictures and narrowed his eyes on the wolves.

"If they’re out of hiding it can only mean one thing; they’re looking for someone,"

  ~Layla’s POV~

Everyone was either reaching out their hands to us or hugging us as they said hello. I heard name after name and knew that there was no chance I'd remember everyone here. They were all so kind, smiling and taking their time to come up and say hi. After they had introduced themeless they either ran to the back of the house to train or they went inside the house to chill.

"Hi I'm Denise!" her arms spread and engulfed me in a big hug. Denise was a bit on the larger side with the brightest smile i'd ever seen. "It’s so nice to meet you and to have some new blood around here! And I'm so glad the Alpha has found a mate after all this time, he surely needed to find you I mean he was so sad after the last-"

"Denise." My head flew to the side when I heard her sharp tone. Denise winced and chuckled nervously before waving her hand and taking off.

My hand reached out and I was quick to grab her arm.

"It was really nice to meet you too," she looked into my eyes. I felt her kindness, her bubbly persona that was jumping around inside of her and also the pain. "Why was the Alpha upset?" Her eyes began to glimmer and her lips turned down.

‘ What’s happening?’ Denise was walking into a crowd that stod outside the gates.

Everyone was in distress moving closer and closer to the gates and the wall and right there standing on the other side of the gates as they began too close were warriors in uniform making sure that nobody got in.

"Don’t do that, don't pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about,"

"What do you know?" I asked him, my brows furrowed and my senses were on high alert.

I rolled back my shoulders and met his hard gaze with my own.

He blinked and as though he caught himself he stepped back and looked between me and Cara who was still standing there beside us.

"Nothing," Kade turned around and walked away. Cara followed after him and I stood still, oblivious to what to expect.

Kade clearly knew something and it bugged me that he withheld it.

  ‘You’re withholding things to’

  That’s true

There was a ruckas inside the house with people screaming and cheering. I saw many of the pack members gathered around the pool table and Anna was in the middle cheering everyone on. Her bright beaming smile and flapping arms made everyone more enthused.

"Let’s go, if you loose you have to do my laundry for a week!"

"And if you loose you have to admit that I'm a better fighter than you," with deep scowls on their faces the two girls started the game.

"Layla can I talk to you for a minute?" I looked and saw Cara with her hand rested softly on my shoulder.

"Of course," we walked up the stairs onto the second floor and into Kade’s office. She closed the doors and turned to face me with a sudden rise of fear that I felt all too clearly.
