"What’s wrong, Cara?"
She dragged a hand through her hair and paced around the office.
"It’s just that, uhm-" I walked over and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Relax and just tell me what’s wrong,"
"It’s you," my hand jerked back as though her skin burnt me and a pit formed in my stomach where my heart dropped into.
"No no, that came out wrong I'm sorry. I just mean that I know something is up with you,"
"Has Kade said something to you?" My eyes were scanning her and I did feel her but I saw nothing, no memories which could only mean they knew what I was capable of and were fighting it.
"Please stop," she breathed and my eyes snapped back.
"I know, we all do, about you and your powers."
"Kade knows?"
"Yes, he’s the one that told the rest of us,"
"I don’t understand, how could he know when I barely understand it myself?" I was stuck in a loop of thoughts and none of them did me any good.
"He knows because it’s not the first time. You’re not the only wolf with the ability to do what you do,"
"There are others?" A sudden spark lit up within me, i felt my lips pulling up and my shoulders rising to my ears.
"There are but Layla, it’s not all good news. You see the gene you have that allows you too see peoples memories it’s part of a species that-" the door slammed open and me and Cara jumped.
"Leave." He growled and looked at his sister. With obsidian eyes and a jaw so tense you could sharpen a knife on it he stepped toward me and closed the door behind him.
"Sit down." He pulled out the chair and waited for me to obey.
"No. You know something and you’re not telling me,"
"Am i the only one?" He seethed and stepped so close that his chest bumped against me and I fell back a step.
"Does that matter? Two wrongs don't make a right so let's just put all the cards on the table right now." I said and stepped closer. I rolled back my shoulders and held my own against him. Kade’s hand came up and laid on my waist. He leaned down, his lips grazing my jaw and my head fell to the side welcoming his touch.
"I don’t want you to get hurt," he whispered.
I leaned my head back up and cupped his face, staring deeply into his eyes I couldn't help but lean in and taste his lips.
"I won’t," he grabbed the back of my head and pressed himself onto me.
Our tongues were fighting for dominance and he won, his hands came down my thighs and he lifted me up and placed me down on the desk.
The taste of him was impeccable, the more I had the more I wanted and I couldn't stop. Nor did I want to.
I slid my fingers down his chest and lifted the shirt over his head. Our lips were in a euphoric dance of power and my fingers slipped down to his belt. He grabbed my hands and held them still.
Leaning his forehead against mine and panting he breathed, "not here,"
Kade grabbed my hand and we walked out of the office and into our room. It was dark and neither of us turned the lamp on. Instead, in the dark, he pressed his lips against mine and slowly removed my shirt.
He took his time with each movement. His eyes gazed over each part of my skin and I had never been looked at with so much love in my life.
Only now did it hit me that he was mine. Kade was mine.
He walked us over to the bed and gently lifted me and placed me down softly.
"You’re beautiful," he said huskily. His fingers grabbed a hold of the hem of my pants and he pulled them off.
Kade leaned over me, his hand rested beside my head and his eyes never left mine.
"Have you ever-"
"did you sleep with him?" I giggled and rolled my eyes.
A yawn pressed itself out and i rubbed my eyes but however tired I felt the soreness of my bones reminded me of last night and I smiled.
"I did and it was amazing," my voice was quiet from fear of anyone overhearing but the door was closed.
"Tell me everything!" Her eyes were dangerously wide and she grabbed my hands.
"we slept together, Anna, it’s nothing more to tell than that. You know how it works when a man and a woman go to be together," I rose a brow and looked knowingly at my dear friend. She wasn't one to turn down a cute guy.
"I do but i don’t know what it’s like with a mate," my eyes drifted and I thought back.
"Better than anything you’ve expired so far I'd say," she squealed and jumped off the bed.
"Where are we going?" I asked and stepped out of the bed and tied a robe around my body.
The sun was gleaming outside and it was already eleven o’clock.
"Were taking a stroll through town and then we’re going to a party tonight,"
"Where?" She turned around and scanned a dress that she held in her hands.
"What are you, eighty?" She asked and held a pink floral skirt in her other hand.
"It’s my moms, put it back," I said and scoffed. I needed something to remember her by apart from my DNA.
"Fine, the party is at a club and we were invited," my head turned and my lips tugged up as the thought of dancing and drinking entered my mind.
"That sounds like fun,"
"So you’re in?"
"Yeah, I'm in," I bit down on my tongue and went in search of something to wear.
