Sebastian looked at Faylin with a pleading expression. He was genuinely not trying to take advantage of her, but his injuries were indeed severe.

The backlash he'd suffered from pushing his limits to control Chimes Tower and slay Evander had taken a huge toll on him. With his strong physique, he'd barely survived. Anyone else would have perished by now.

Despite his strong recovery ability, he would still need at least a month or two to heal fully. Normally, that amount of time wouldn't concern him, but he simply didn't have the luxury now.

Nonetheless, Faylin trembled with anger upon hearing his request. Although she and Sebastian had been intimate before, it was always due to pressing circumstances. Now, hearing him ask her to "help" him just for the sake of healing enraged her.

Faylin fumed while pointing at Sebastian in frustration. "If you weren't so badly hurt, I'd give you a hard slap right now!"

Sebastian quickly flashed a guilty smile. "Faylin, don't be mad. I truly don't have any other choice. You know how serious my injuries are.

"If this were any other time, I wouldn't push, but Gaudium Sacred Ground won't stop until they've dealt with me. Am I supposed to just sit and wait to die?"

"Oh, now you're worried?" Faylin shot back. "Why didn't you think of this before you crippled Calix's arms?"

"That guy was infuriating," Sebastian replied. "I couldn't stand it any longer, so I took matters into my own hands."

"I know—just because he touched your lover's hand, you had to fly into a rage to defend her honor, huh? How gallant of you." Faylin's tone was laced with sarcasm.

"Faylin, I'm not lying. The reason I didn't go looking for you was that I didn't want to drag you into my problems. You know I've made a lot of enemies. I didn't want to put you in danger," Sebastian explained.

"Really?" Faylin asked, half-believing him.

"Of course! If you don't believe me, I'll swear at it!" Sebastian declared with conviction.

Seeing Faylin's expression soften, Sebastian knew he'd touched her heart. He leaned in, intending to kiss her.

Just as he was about to succeed, Faylin suddenly placed her hand over his mouth, stopping him.

She said in frustration, "I almost fell for it. All these sweet words are just so that you can get me to help heal you. You're shameless and absolutely despicable!"
