Sebastian was startled. He quickly spun around while throwing a punch.

"Wait! It's me," the man exclaimed, equally shocked.

Sebastian managed to stop his fist just an inch from the man's nose.

"You nearly gave me a heart attack! Your reflexes are insane," the man said while patting his chest. He was visibly shaken.

"It's you!" Sebastian exclaimed as he recognized the bulky figure.

It was none other than Brody, a former disciple of Swordity, the guy who had run the betting scheme during the disciple tournament two years back.

Even after two years, Sebastian remembered him well.

Brody's build was unforgettable. His height and waist circumference were nearly identical, making him resemble a moving mountain. His grin was rather sly, with eyes that sparkled mischievously.

Meeting him once had left an impression on Sebastian that could last a decade.

"For a moment there, I thought that someone was attacking me," Sebastian said in exasperation.

Brody chuckled. "Mr. Wilder, you're way too jumpy! Fighting is strictly forbidden in the city, you know. I was just saying hello, and you nearly killed me!"

Sebastian knew he was joking. Brody managing to place a hand on his shoulder undetected showed his level of skill. Of course, Sebastian's own injuries, along with Brody's lack of hostility, had also kept him from noticing.

"Why aren't you training in Swordity? What are you doing here?" Sebastian asked curiously.

"I left Swordity," Brody replied with a smile.

"You were doing fine. Why would you leave Swordity?" Sebastian asked in confusion.

Brody grinned. "Swordity's alright, but it's got nothing on Sacred Grounds. I'm aiming for Violetta Sacred Ground. I hear the Holy Maiden of Violetta is as beautiful as a goddess. If I could just…"

Brody's voice was loud enough to catch the attention of two young men passing by. Their faces darkened, and they stormed over, looking menacing. "How dare you even think of the Holy Maiden? You've got some nerve! Who gave you that courage?"

Realizing his mistake, Brody took off, darting into the inn and leaving Sebastian to deal with the mess. Sebastian shot a glare after him. That damned fatso! He was always causing trouble and running off without a word of explanation.

Turning to the two young men, Sebastian asked, "Are you from Violetta Sacred Ground?"

"That's right, we're outer apprentices of Violetta Sacred Ground. You dare show disrespect to our Holy Maiden?" Leroy O'Donnell scolded in a harsh tone.

Sebastian replied, "I meant no disrespect, nor do I have any intentions toward your Holy Maiden."

"We heard you loud and clear, and you still dare to deny it!" Leroy and his buddy, Tucker Lynch, were both enraged as their eyes filled with murderous intent.

"Well, if you don't believe me, there's nothing I can do about it," Sebastian said. He brushed past them and headed toward the inn.
