Pamela bounced through the front door, practically glowing with happiness.

She had spent the entire day using a supposed date with Easton as a cover to sneak off and see the man she actually loved. Easton had gladly played along, leaving her in high spirits.

The living room was completely dark, the main lights switched off. Assuming everyone was already asleep, Pamela slowed her pace, tiptoeing carefully toward the stairs.

"Home so late?" Melisande's low, chilling voice sliced through the silence, making Pamela nearly trip over her own feet.

Startled, she whipped her head around and saw Melisande lounging on the sofa in a mocha-colored silk robe, swirling a glass of red wine with practiced elegance.

The sheer predatory aura radiating from her sister made Pamela stammer. "M-Melisande... why are you still awake? It's so late to be drinking..."

Melisande offered a slow smile. She set her wine glass down and glided over to Pamela. "Out with Easton until this hour? Your big sister was getting worried. I'd hate to see my precious little sister ruined by some guy before she's officially off the market."

Faking a look of pure adoration, Melisande reached out and gently patted Pamela's head.

Pamela beamed, playing the part of the naive sibling. "Don't worry, Melisande. I know what I'm doing."

"Honestly, you're both adults. You and Easton will be married soon anyway. If something were to happen between you two, I wouldn't hold it against you. After all, the only reason Father was so strict about your purity was so you'd retain your maximum value for a business marriage," Melisande murmured, her voice laced with quiet manipulation and poison.

Their father controlled his daughters' private lives with an iron fist, but it had nothing to do with protecting them. He viewed them as high-end commodities on a shelf. A flawless product fetched a much higher price.

Easton was their father's prime target for an alliance, which meant Pamela, as the designated product, finally had a chance to prove her worth.
