She had heard about the recent plagiarism scandal, but she never imagined that Soren, instead of defending Poppy, was actually helping Evangeline.

Furious and speechless, she slammed the laptop shut with a loud smack.

“Soren, you can’t even tell right from wrong anymore.”

“What has Evangeline done to you? Do you have any idea how hurt Poppy would be if she saw what you’re doing right now?”

Soren reopened the laptop. “Right or wrong, these people aren’t the ones to judge. They have no right to curse at anyone.”

“They’re just trying to uphold justice,” Flora retorted. “After all, Evangeline is the one who used such underhanded tactics.”

At that, Soren glanced up. “This isn’t just about Evangeline. If plagiarism is confirmed, it’s the fault of the entire R&D department. The blame doesn’t fall on one person. In other words, Glenn should also bear some of the responsibility.”

Hearing Glenn’s name dragged into it, Flora’s face flushed with anger. “Well, Glenn must have been deceived by her sweet talk! That’s why he made a mistake.”

Soren looked at her as if she were an idiot.

Before, he might have believed that Evangeline had somehow tricked Glenn. But after their time together at the bottom of the cliff, he had a new perspective on her. He suddenly felt that Evangeline wouldn't jeopardize UME or disappoint Glenn for her own selfish gain. There had to be a misunderstanding.

Perhaps, he reasoned, Evangeline simply lacked the competence to identify the problem and had been deceived by her own subordinates. After all, she had been a housewife in the Fawkes family for so many years. In just a few months, Soren didn’t believe she could have acquired the skills to handle such a complex job.

“But no matter what, it’s a fact that Evangeline plagiarized Fawkes Enterprises and Poppy,” Flora insisted. “Fawkes Enterprises released their update much earlier. You can’t fake the timeline.”

She let out a small huff and muttered, “When I first heard she was a designer at UME, I almost believed she was that capable. Turns out she just used dirty tricks to get there.”
