"Hello, Declan! What brings you two here?" I asked him directly, without giving him time to think about what to say. 

"Rebecca…" he barely said my name and choked on his whiskey sip. "Look, I really tried to talk him out of it. I even told him it wasn't a good idea. But when he found out your friend was here too, he went nuts. He gave me an hour to pack. I could barely find someone to hold my place at the hospital." He sounded sincere. But even so, Dominic had no right to come into my life like that. 

"But why, Declan? Why won't he leave me alone? By what right does he keep telling me I'm in his possession? And before you answer me, I know all about him as I'm sure you do too, being his friend and confidant. Otherwise, with my wounds that night, he would not have brought me to you." Declan sighed as if from the bottom of his soul. 

"You're his Luna, and that's for life. Whatever you do, wherever you hide, he will find you. It's in his destiny... and yours." 

"Destiny? Don't we make our own destiny? What happens if I don't want to? What if I don't want to and I don't feel this strong connection he keeps telling me about?" 

"It's like you have no escape, Rebecca. He won't make you do anything. Don't be scared. He's a rogue, he's not part of any pack, so technically, he doesn't need someone to lead the pack with. But the werewolf's destiny can't be denied. I think above and beyond what he feels, that he feels you have to be with him. He really loves you."

Declan's words were amazing, but they were just his friend's words. I wonder how Dominic felt. I still didn't know which side to be on. My heart was screaming at me to love him while my reason was telling me to stay away. Who was I to listen to now? For the moment, I went back to Logan. One thing was certain. I had to try and keep him at a distance. At the slightest move, Dominic could unleash the beast inside him.

It was very hard for me to know Dominic was watching my every move. It was not like I wasn't used to it, but now Logan was in the middle of it all. His only intention was for the mission to go flawlessly, with no unwanted incidents. And even though it did, we were so close to disaster. In fact, I was grateful for his discovery. Now, so many girls were safe with their families. And that's what mattered the most. 

"So, everything's okay?" Logan greeted me, a little concerned. "If Dominic gives you any trouble..."

"No, he's not, don't worry. And yes, everything's perfect." Somehow, I had to put Logan in his place. Just in case he forgot it. 

"I don't think I understand you" I tried to calm the atmosphere, but it was so heated that I could hear his blood rushing furiously through his veins.

"Oh, don't go there, love! Don't pretend you don't understand" It was the first time he called me love. This was getting serious.

"What's wrong with you?"

"What's wrong with me? Logan's wrong. He's wrong when he talks to you, when he touches you, even if it's out of politeness, and it's very wrong that you don't see my pain and my love for you!" 

This last confession froze me in an instant. My mouth fell open, and I fixed my eyes on his. Dominic held me between him and the door. His right hand embraced my waist, and his left held my right hand above my head. I couldn't move an inch. He held me so tight. At first, I was a little afraid of his reaction, but now I could feel my heart melting and maybe my body surrendering to him. He must have felt something because he loosened his grip by leading my arm right over my breasts.
