While I was resting at home, John wouldn't let me have peace.

My phone kept ringing.

John and I had long since cut off contact. If it weren't for Emily, I would have had nothing to do with his family after Linda's surgery.

Annoyed, I answered his call:

"I don't want to be treated as a mistress by your girlfriends anymore, please show some respect!"

John sobbed on the other end of the line:

"Sarah, I'm sorry, it's all my fault. But can you help Chloe? I'm begging you to save her, she's pregnant with my child. If she goes to jail, her life will be ruined!"

"Chloe's baby is a boy. I can't let my son have a criminal mother, and I can't let him be born in prison..."

"If you hadn't been messing around with so many women, they wouldn't have died."

"The real killers are you, Emily, and Chloe."

"You let Chloe change the name on the urine test report and showed it to Emily, all to get revenge on me for taking everything from you in the divorce, didn't you?"

"You had someone hand Emily the knife, wanting her to kill your sister who was going to fight for her share of the family inheritance, didn't you?"

"You played those two women like puppets, and they probably still think it was their own plans that failed."

"You played a good game, but you messed it up!"

"Tell me, if Chloe and Emily knew you had five other girlfriends, what would they do?"

John's furious shouts abruptly stopped.

"What did you say?"

"Don't you understand?"

"Shut up! Don't think you can slander me with your lies!"
