Kissing Noah wasn't something I thought about at any point in time, and with the way he was smiling after I broke the kiss, something tells me he planned it. It made me lose my appetite to have lunch, because the kiss had brought a strain to our friendship already, and I'm sure he knew that too.
"If you won't have lunch, do you want me to take you home?" He asked me, I shook my head. If he planned to kiss, me and it went smoothly like that, imagine what would happen if he tries to have a hot make out session. I would further complicate things, especially when my heart is somewhere else.
"I'll just order an Uber, don't worry. You have to get back to work anyway," I told him and he nodded.
He grabbed my arm, looking into my eyes like he wanted to kiss me again. Turns out I was right. When he leaned in, I leaned out.
"Woah, you can't do that" I told him. He paused to look at me for a few seconds then he released my arm.
"But you just let me-"
"Let's not make this a thing, I'm tired and I need to rest, I'll see you tomorrow okay?" I asked him and walked back into the building behind me.
I didn't want him thinking it was okay to kiss me anytime he wanted, just because I let him once.
As I stepped into my work building, I had a straight face on, ready to step on anyone who thought they could run their mouths and go scot free.
I had a lot of eyes on me, but no one said anything. I got to my office in a rush, I wanted to get me things and leave as I didn't have it in me to stay in the but for more that five minutes.
"Oh I thought you left" Melissa said
"No I didn't, came to grave my stuff" I told her and she nodded.
"Oh yes, Mr. Blue wants you in his office," she said. What more did that man want? His interest in me made people, people that I had never talked to in my life, question my work and position. What more did he want? I sighed, grabbed my purse and coat, and headed to his office.
"Sewa, I don't know what happened out there, but I don't want it happening again" he started. There were a lot of things I wanted to say to him, but I kept my mouth shut because I felt he wasn't worth it, I wasn't already too angry, and I have a history of saying crazy things when I'm angry without thinking.
"You have a free day tomorrow, clear your head so when the week starts, you'll come back to work with a new mind" he said and I nodded.
"Thank you," I said and walked out. The thing is, he didn't need to tell me, I wasn't going to be at work the next day, I already had it planned.
I took a taxi home because I couldn't wait for an Uber. To be honest, I was loving all the free time I was getting off work. It was the best thing ever; I had more time to do stuff, enough time to take care of myself and enjoy my company without interruption.
I made potato porridge for dinner. It was the first time in a long time that I was making dinner for myself. It felt really good to cook for myself, it made me remember that I'm an awesome cook.
By 7:47, while I was getting ready to binge watch friends, I heard a knock on my door.
My mind went to the feeling that I've been having of someone following me. Did the person finally come for me?
I carried a long and thick spatula and went to the door, the knock was more like a pounding on the door. Whoever was behind that door was angry, I could tell.
I took a deep breath and opened the door, holding the spatula out. Antonio looked at me like I had gone crazy.
"You scared the shit out of me! Why were you pounding on the door like that?" I asked him, placing my hands on my chest. My heart was beating very fast.
"I think I'll ask the questions," he said and let himself in.
"I really don't want to know, trust me. It just made me realize where I stood with you, better. So it's okay, you don't have to explain" I told him as I sat on a couch.
Antonio stood awkwardly, looking at me like he had never seen me before.
"Well is that all?" I asked him?
"I came to apologize" my eyes flew to him immediately. That was new, who knew Antonio could apologize. He knelt down at the foot of the couch so we were eye to eye.
"I'm sorry, for the shitty things I did and said, but if Noah talks back to me again, I swear I'll fucking kill him. I'm sure you understand what I'm trying to say" he asked, I shook my head immediately. This was it, my mind was turning into melted cheese, thinking straight was becoming hard for me.
"It means..." He started. He's eyes kept moving from my eyes to my lips; then he put his palm on my face, tracing his thumb to my lips.
"It means you shouldn't give him any reason to disrespect me" he said but I shook my head again as a way of telling him I didn't understand.
"Don't kiss him again," he said bluntly. He rubbed his thumb on my lips slowly.
"You know you don't own me" I told him. I was even surprised I still had the logical part of me intact.
"I don't want him having you like I have you" he said and then he pulled me in for a hug. It was one of the weirdest interactions I've had with Antonio. I really didn't get him sometimes.
He released me and placed his lips on mine. I just prepared myself for the night of pleasure I was about to get.
