Vacation was over, it was time to go back home, and I still didn't have the courage to ask Antonio if what I heard that night, he truly said it. A part of me told me he was happy that I wasn't awake to give him a response; another part of me told me that he was disappointed that I never said anything. I really did want to, but a lot of thoughts were going through my head. What if he didn't really say it? Then I'd put him in a tight spot, where he'd have to confess something he didn't feel. Not only would that be embarrassing, it would be unfair to him, I would feel like I was trying to rush him, but I had a plan, a plan I was going to execute at home.
The flight back home was surprisingly not as long as I thought it was. We were in the air for three hours.
This time, Antonio slept throughout the flight, with his head on my shoulder; I knew I was going to have to get a massage afterwards.
When we finally landed, we said our goodbyes to Aliyah and Harry. I asked to be dropped at work because we arrived quite early, and I wanted to get a few things done. Antonio was skeptical about the whole thing, he didn't want me going to work, but I did anyway.
I took out my phone to call Melissa, to know if she was at the office or not, she said she was. Thank God.
"Bye, I'll see you later," I said and pecked Antonio on his forehead, then made my way into the building.
The first person I saw when I got in was Dan, he gave me a sweet smile, which I returned. There was something about him that just made me feel like peeing myself on the spot. It was true that he was a very good looking man, but his eyes, though beautiful, looked wicked, like he had stored up anger in them. Every time he looked at me, I felt cold, like cold water was poured on my body.
I ignored the thought and headed straight for my office.
"Welcome back, Sewa" Melissa greeted and I smiled.
"Thank you. I'm not going out for lunch break, so bring all the stuff I need to work on, I mean the ones that are due soon," I ordered and she nodded her head. The time was 11:8 pm, and I wanted to do everything I could before I got lazy.
Melissa arranged a couple documents on my desk, tapping on them as she told me their due dates.
"Miss," she stopped and called me.
"Yeah?"
"Something weird happened while you were gone" Melissa said, I looked up at her immediately. I noticed that she had a frown on her face, she looked angry and scared.
"I wanted to call and tell you about it, but I didn't want to disturb you while you were away" she said and I nodded.
"What happened?"
"So the day you traveled, Dan came to me and asked me out on a date. I thought it was cute because he is the one every single girl at the office wants, you know?" She said and I nodded.
"So after our date, we came to work the next day and he came to see me, he said we should come in here and make out, no one would see us," she paused.
I looked at her smirking.
"No, we didn't do anything" she defended herself immediately.
"Well we came in here and I felt like peeing, so I excused myself. When I came back and was about to enter the office, I heard shuffling coming from here," she said pointing at my desk.
I picked up my phone and called Antonio immediately.
"Babes, you home?" I asked him.
"No, office. I couldn't stay home without you," he said and I smiled. No, back to business.
"Do you know a detective I could talk to right now?" I asked him.
"Yes, why?" He asked.
"I'll tell you when we get home," I told him.
"No, tell me now," He insisted.
"Well, I have information about a man, he's a new employee and he was caught searching my office while I was away, I need to find out who he is" I told him.
"Send me the information. Do you need me to come get you?" He asked.
"No, I'm fine. I have work to do; We'll talk at home," I told him and hung up. I sent the information to Antonio immediately, hoping that we'd find something about Dan, who kept getting in my way.
