At the exact same time, Andre at his company, Conner on the road, Mars who hadn't even made it home yet, and Asher, who was just plotting his revenge, all checked the group chat. There was Asher in all his drunken glory—sleeping, sleep-talking, grinding his teeth, and furiously punching the life out of his pillow.
Teddy promptly turned off his phone, leaned back against the seat, and closed his eyes to rest.
"Teddy, where are we heading?"
Teddy replied, "That is an excellent question."
Teddy's whereabouts were always shrouded in mystery, and very few people ever knew where he was. Part of the reason was that half the time, he just went wherever the wind took him.
By November, the weather turned cold again.
Over Henry's school uniform, his mom now made him wear a light puffer jacket every day.
Henry looked adorable in light-colored clothes. He was lively and active, but light colors definitely weren't dirt-proof.
When the weather got cold, older people started feeling it in their joints. Before winter had even officially begun, Hansen had already complained about his knees aching several times. When Mia and Molly overheard this, the sisters exchanged a look. From then on, every weekend when they went home, the whole gang dragged Hansen out to exercise. Now, the moment the weekend rolled around, Hansen fled straight to the Rayner family's house.
But of course, his unruly kids just drove right over to the Rayners' place. "Harry, is my dad here?"
Hansen was currently hiding. Before he took cover, he specifically warned his friend, "Don't tell them you saw me."
Harry shook his head. "Haven't seen him."
She wanted to open a restaurant of her own, but Jupiter instantly objected. "No way."
"Jupiter, what did you say to me on the phone when you asked me to come back? You said you'd support whatever I wanted to do," Abby challenged her husband.
Jupiter sighed. "I do support you, but opening a restaurant is exhausting. Buying ingredients, cooking, washing endless pots and pans... at your age, why put yourself through that?" Deep down, Jupiter just couldn't bear to see his wife struggle. "It's not like sitting in a cushy office."
Despite Jupiter's protests, Abby went ahead and opened a small restaurant anyway. Milka had saved up a few hundred thousand dollars over the years to buy a car. She never ended up buying the car, so she handed her mother a large chunk of it to fund her startup. "Mom, I'm planning to take the exams again, so I don't need this money right now. Mars and I aren't planning to have kids for another two years anyway, so just use this."
Though they complained constantly, when it came time to put in the work, both Mars and Jupiter showed up bright and early every day to help out at Abby's new place.
Milka found herself living the exact life she had once known. Only this time, she got to see Mars every morning and every evening.
