Anya nodded, a look of pure pride on her face. "Of course I won. Since she loved calling me 'the boss's wife,' I played the part. I told her to quit and come interview at Leo's company. I said since she was so fond of my title, I'd do her a favor and make my boyfriend give her a job through the backdoor.

"Janice looked completely furious when I said that, and Patty never called me that again."

Molly turned to Mia. "Does this mean my teachings have paid off?"

"Aren't you the founder of this petty behavior?" Mia shot back.

"You need to step it up, Mia. My little protégé here is thriving."

Mia swung her little tiger cub's hand. "My 'protégé' is going to need a few more years before he learns anything useful. Right now, he's just displaying early signs of a rebellious phase."

Henry had indeed learned a few tricks. At home, he would march up to Andre with tiny, clenched fists, let out a dramatic 'Hi-yah!', and punch his dad's leg twice. When Andre didn't flinch and reached down to scoop him up for a spanking, the little guy would immediately spin around and sprint for his life.

Andre usually just laughed at how ridiculous and adorable his son was.

Milka smiled at Anya. "If Janice let you see her personal life like that, it proves she deeply trusts you. I feel a lot better knowing that."

Anya beamed and nodded happily.

With Christmas fast approaching, the storefront windows were already decked out with Christmas trees, garlands, greeting cards, and twinkling fairy lights.

Trying to escape the cold, the group ducked into a random boutique. When they came back out, Henry was the proud owner of a green elf hat and a red scarf. But before the hat could even warm his head, Henry yanked it off and threw it on the ground.

Mia stared at it in disbelief.

The snow on the pavement had been trampled into a slushy, grayish-black puddle, and the hat landed right in the center of it.

Mia glared at her son. Henry stared right back. Neither said a word.

Anya, meanwhile, had bought two cute reindeer antler clips and pinned them into her hair.

Molly scoffed. "Hey! I haven't even spent that much this month."

After holding the boys for a bit, Leo set them down and grabbed Anya's hand. "How are you all getting home?"

"I'm taking a cab," Milka said. "But I'm worried about Mia and Molly. The snow is getting heavy, and I don't trust Molly's driving skills."

"I can drive at a snail's pace, I'll be fine," Molly protested.

Mia waved a hand confidently. "Don't worry. Andre should be calling me any second now. His dinner is wrapping up, and he promised to contact us." She was absolutely sure of it.

Right on cue, Andre called. "Mia, are you all home yet?"

"Not yet, honey. I just bought our son a hat, and he threw it in the mud."
