"She puts on all this ugly makeup every day, and she insists on wearing it. You've seen her—barefaced she looks nineteen, with makeup she looks twenty-nine."

Mia remembered seeing the girl. At first, she had thought they were around the same age, only to find out the girl was a few years younger than her brother.

"Now she's got an allergic reaction that just won't clear up."

Complaining all the way, Cooper finally shut his mouth when they reached their parents. "Sweetie, did you have fun? Let Uncle Cooper hold you."

Henry hadn't even been on the ground for a full minute since his grandpa put him down.

Once again, he was scooped up into his uncle's arms.

At noon, the adults ate the lunch they had bought, while the kids ate the snacks Anya had prepared that morning.

Henry picked out the little bits of meat from his bowl, eating them one by one. As he ate, he raised a little hand. "Daddy, I'll feed you."

"Where to next? I'll feed you too."

Halfway through his meal, he ran off to play again.

Mia was already looking up remedies for facial allergic reactions. Molly glanced over. "Mia, are you having an allergic reaction?"

Mia shook her head. "No, checking for a friend."

She then shot a look at Cooper, who was pretending not to hear.

In the family group chat, Hansen kept receiving the videos they sent back. He watched them with delight, though smiling made his cheek hurt again. "Sir, if the medication isn't working, how about a minimally invasive surgery?" the butler suggested.

Hansen refused. "No way. I looked it up, the surgery uses electric shocks. It's terrifying."

"But enduring this pain all the time isn't a solution either."

Hansen remained as stubborn as ever.

On the drive home, Mia sat in the back, holding her son, who was so sleepy he couldn't keep his eyes open. While her husband drove, she continued researching medical remedies on her phone.

Henry's little face was tucked into his mother's chest, snoring softly. He was covered in dirt.
