If he didn't care about her at all, he wouldn't have worked so hard. That entire year, he didn't buy a single new pair of basketball shoes or a new piece of clothing.

When Stephania returned, he was completely devoted to his wife again. Feeling the pressure lift, he wanted to relax and have fun, but the moment Stephania got pregnant, he instantly stepped up to be a dependable man once more.

Chad knew perfectly well that his protégé was completely managed by Stephania, but he never said a word. Donnie needed someone exactly like her.

"I guess I get to be a dad before thirty." Donnie wiped his sweat, pulled on a hoodie, then his winter coat, and clapped his hands at Wayne. "Wayne, let Uncle Donnie hold you."

Wayne stared at Donnie's open arms for a few seconds before immediately turning away, clinging to his dad's neck with all his little might.

Chad chuckled and patted his son's soft back. "It's his first time out with me. He's a little shy around strangers."

Wayne stayed tucked in his dad's arms, observing his surroundings for a good while before finally letting Chad set him down. Dressed in civilian clothes, Chad reviewed the scores on the clipboard while Wayne tugged at his hand, wanting to go play in the inner arena.

During a twenty-minute break, Chad lifted his son onto a pillar to stand on, standing close by to keep him company.

Then, he lifted him onto a pull-up bar, supporting the boy's weight as he practiced.

Wayne hung there, his little tummy fully exposed. Chad quickly pulled his son's shirt down and tucked him back into his arms.

Wayne insisted on dragging his dad to the shooting range. Chad knew exactly what his son wanted. "Daddy will play with you when we get home."

"Daddy." Wayne frowned, pouting and whining.

Chad picked his son up, whispered something in his ear, and planted a kiss on his cheek. "Okay?"
