The medicine wasn't keeping things down, so an IV was the only option.
Annie looked at her guilt-ridden husband. She knew Lizzy was his whole world and that he hadn't done it on purpose. She had rushed over straight from the precinct after getting his call. "Stop coaxing her. She made herself sick; let her learn a lesson."
Lizzy, her face streaked with tears, was just about to calm down when Maja rushed over.
The wailing immediately amplified.
Maja scooped up her niece, her eyes filled with nothing but pure heartache.
"Maja, she's faking it," Annie sighed. "She had already stopped crying."
"That's just because it started hurting again."
When it came to the precious baby of the family, even someone as stoic as Maja completely lost all sense of principle. In fact, Lizzy was probably the only person in the world who could get Maja to take time off and come down from the mountain.
"Don't cry, sweetie. Maja's got you. Where does it hurt? Let me blow on it."
The more affectionately Maja spoke, the more wronged little Lizzy felt. Her tiny lips quivered, her eyes rimmed with pink as she lifted her chubby hands, waiting for Maja to blow the pain away.
Annie quickly realized that as the biological mother, she was somehow the strictest person in the entire family.
Back at Golden Top, the leader of Team One had left, and soon after, the leader of Team Two received a call from Horizon Technologies. He hung up immediately. "The leader of Team One is already making four hundred thousand a year with us."
Leo and Chunky didn't know what the Team Two leader ultimately decided, so they quietly observed him for a few days. They soon realized he had no intention of jumping ship.
The two exchanged a look and pretended they didn't know anything, keeping everything business as usual.
A message from Dustin came through, featuring the location and a photo of an auto repair shop. "Mr. Yates is working there as a mechanic."
Looking at the photo, the man in his thirties appeared bloated and weathered, wearing a grease-stained mechanic's uniform. "I never would have thought the brilliant Mr. Yates from back then would end up like this," Dustin commented.
