He didn't get up when he saw me walk in.

Pointing at the coffee table like he was teasing a dog, he said,

"I got gifts for you and Mr. Blake while we were in London."

"Let's go see them tomorrow."

Five years married, and Caleb still called my dad "Mr. Blake."

I didn't know if that was out of respect for him or if he wanted to distance himself from me.

On the table was a tea set and a bag.

"The tea set's for Mr. Blake. The bag's yours."

My dad loved tea and anything related to it.

After Caleb's business took off, he often bought rare teas and antique tea sets to please my dad.

The bag was a designer one, but an older model.

Sophia had posted a picture of it last year.

I didn't care anymore.

I ignored him and sat down on the other couch, setting the bag of medicine down.

I was in excruciating pain.

Only then did Caleb notice my pale face. He asked,

"Why do you look so bad? Are you running a fever?"

He got up and walked over to me, frowning as he reached for my forehead.

Instinctively, I recoiled.

He noticed my reaction and frowned deeper.

"Don't bother, Caleb. I'm fine."

I lowered my gaze, suddenly understanding how Caleb must've felt before.

When you no longer love someone, even small talk to keep things going feels draining.

"It's still early. We can still make it to the courthouse."

I went upstairs to put the medicine away and grabbed the marriage certificate before heading back downstairs.

Caleb's expression went from shock to helplessness, then to anger.

"Madison, are you done with this drama?!"

"We both know that as long as Mr. Blake is around, you're never going to get a divorce!"

"Mr. Blake has done so much for me."

As soon as she got the money, Sophia immediately broke up with him.

I saw Caleb was depressed, so I started looking after him.

That's when I fell for him.

But now, I realize how wrong I was to love him.

I laughed harder, the taste of blood in my mouth,

"Of course, it was me who was wrong. I was so, so wrong…"

Caleb seemed startled by my madness.

He stared at me coldly, grinding his teeth before saying:

"You're completely unreasonable!"

"You want a divorce? Let Mr. Blake handle it!"

Tears filled my eyes as I stared at him, my gaze burning red:

"Caleb, you're free from your moral chains now!"

"You're free!"

"My parents are dead. We can get a divorce now!"
