In this standout chapter of the Werewolf novel The Alpha's Unwanted Luna (by Miss L), GoodNovel introduces new challenges, powerful emotions, and major plot progress that captivate readers from beginning to end.
“So we can’t outright touch them, we can’t kill them. What in the hell are we supposed to do?” Jason growls at me as we scan the area. There are no other threats and these slow motion enemies aren’t making much progress, but neither are we. I don’t know if I have ever been this frustrated, and I have a stubborn, head-strong, self-sufficient Alpha for a mate.
I take a few steps forward and drop to my knees. The pressure on my head is excruciating. More flashes of people I don’t know dying and bleeding out onto the ground. Then a thought. ‘Don’t spill innocent blood.’ As quickly as it started, the pressure is gone.
“Innocent blood?” I ask out loud and Jason grabs my shoulder.
“What are you rambling about now?” He asks, helping me to my feet.
I stumble and use him to stay upright. Looking him in the eyes. “They are innocent, or most of them are. We can’t spill innocent blood here. That’s the only thing I keep getting from this magic. No innocent blood. It must be something she needs or wants. We can’t hurt them if they are innocent, if they didn’t choose this.”
“Okay, so that part makes sense.” Jax grumbles from the ground, but how do we help them, or stop them or whatever it is we’re supposed to do if we can’t even touch them?” He rubs his head for effect.
I start thinking out loud, so far working together is what has kept us safe and alive. Everytime one of us tries something on our own we get hurt. “Eliza must have some kind of shield or protection on them, but why? If she wants us to hurt them, wouldn’t she want them vulnerable? The Rift wants us to capture them, but we can’t touch them, and clearly we are missing some very important details that no one has or can give. Gah!!” I clench my fists in frustration and roots shoot up through the ground.
“Oh Sh*t! You can do it too?!” Jason looks at me.
