Tristan's POV
"Dude, what's with the cut on the side of your face?", Kevin's eyebrows rose, bringing his face closer to mine
"It's nothing man, I cut myself while shaving", I trailed my fingers on the cut before plastering a bandage over it, and it didn't hurt meaning that it's healing now, so it wasn't that bad anymore
"Are you sure?", he seemed concerned. "It looks rather deep"
"Just let it go Kev, okay?", I stood to my feet. "Like I said, it's nothing"
He sat there for like a minute, just looking at me with his arms folded before pulling out a file from his bag while shaking his head, I knew he wasn't convinced
"Okay so, these were the recipes I was telling you about", he started paging through a file while walking towards me. "I think we should add more dishes to the menu-"
The sound of his voice started to disorient further away even through he was standing next to me. My mind started to drift back to the night Mellisa and I had this huge fight.

"I'm really sorry about earlier, I shouldn't have talked to you like that, and I apologize", I said sincerely when I noticed she was giving the silent treatment when I got home
Instead of accepting my apology like a normal person so that we could move on from all of that, she started telling at me that I don't look like I'm serious about the whole wedding thing, which turned into another full-blown argument
"What else do you want me to do? I'm the one paying for everything"
"It's not enough Tristan", she spoke loudly over the volume of the television. "Maybe if you put in just enough effort in this wedding as you did in your stupid restaurant, we wouldn't even be having this conversation"
"You're really ungrateful Mellisa, nothing I do will ever be good enough for you", I was getting tired of her belittling my every move like what I wasn't doing wasn't benefiting the both of us
"My life doesn't revolve around this wedding", I muttered under my breath
"Ungrateful?", she scoffed bitterly. "I'm everything but ungrateful and I know where my priorities lie"
"You know what? I'm done talking about this", I turned to walk away, and I could hear her lose it as in a swift movement, an object flew right past me and smashed loudly against the passage wall I was walking towards, tiny pieces of the plate scattered across my feet. I stopped walking before I turned to look at her, fuming with anger.
"What is the matter with you?", I was now screaming at her because what she just did was uncalled-for, I could see the plate was aimed for my head but she missed
"I told you not to fucking walk away from me", she screamed back
"You're fucking crazy", I covered my face with my hands while chuckling in disbelief
"Stay away from me", I strictly warned her, and she refrained from touching me and I pushed past her, storming out of the house to drive myself to the hospital. If asked what happened, I would just paint it as an accident. I could never tell anyone what really happened. No one has to know what really happened.

"Tristan?", the sound of Kevin's voice constantly calling my name pulled me back to the hard hitting reality. I turned to look at him with my eyebrow raised.
"What?"
"Did you hear any word I said?"
"Of course I did", I cleared my throat awkwardly. "I'm with you on whatever dishes you decide to add to the menu. One hundred percent"
He looked at me, tilting his head to the side, seeming to study my every move like somehow he would get the answers to his questions
"Are you sure you're okay man?"
A message notification popped up on my phone and I tapped to open it, turns out it was from Mellisa
Please come back home so that we can talk? I miss you
