Scott made his way over to Sandy, umbrella in hand, shielding himself from the downpour. “It’s pouring out here. What are you doing standing in the rain? Come on, get in—I’ll give you a ride.”

Sandy looked up at him, feigning surprise. “Mr. Stranz, I just finished a shift at my part-time job. I was about to head home, but I didn’t expect this much rain. You can’t even get a cab right now.”

“Just get in,” Scott insisted, angling the umbrella so it covered Sandy, doing his best to keep her dry.

Sandy hesitated for a second, then slid into the car. “Thank you, Mr. Stranz. Sorry for the trouble.”

“No trouble at all,” Scott said, grabbing some tissues and handing them over. “You’re soaked. Try to dry off a bit.”

“Thank you,” Sandy replied, looking a little shy.

“Where do you live?” Scott asked. “I’ll have my driver drop you off.”

“Alder Drive…”

Sandy had picked a sheer top that day—nothing scandalous if it stayed dry, but now, drenched from the rain and clinging to her every curve, it was anything but modest. With her delicate features, fair skin, and damp hair, she looked almost too tempting.

Scott had had a few drinks, so his self-control was running thin. To say he wasn’t affected would be a lie.

Soon, the car pulled up outside Sandy’s building.

Without an umbrella, Sandy opened the door and stepped out. “Thanks, Mr. Stranz. I’ll head up now.”

She didn’t invite him in—she knew he’d get out anyway.

Sure enough, a second later, Scott was out of the car, umbrella in hand. “Sandy, take this. It’s coming down hard. Don’t catch a cold.”

“No, really, it’s fine. I’m almost inside,” Sandy said with a bright smile. “Thank you again, Mr. Stranz.”

Most girls would’ve already asked Scott upstairs, but her restraint only made him like her more.

Scott stood by the entrance, watching Sandy head toward her building. Suddenly, she misstepped and went down hard.
