Matthew furrowed his brows, feeling dejected.

The Eastorians stopped at nothing to get their hands on the traditional medicine books. If they couldn't get it with money, they'd steal it. If that didn't work, they'd resort to violence and even murder.

Meanwhile, Otto had no faith in traditional medicine at all.

The Eastorians spread the word in the media that traditional medicine didn't work, even hiring fake experts to bash it and blowing failed cases out of proportion to discredit it.

Undeniably, their plans had worked. The young doctors in this land didn't trust traditional medicine anymore.

Matthew wasn't in a rush to explain anything. With a smile, he stated, "I'm actually a traditional medicine practitioner myself."

Otto was stunned for a moment, then awkwardly grinned. "I didn't mean you. Don't be mad. I'm talking about the entire community of traditional medicine practitioners."

What the fuck? Matthew's mouth twitched, feeling infuriated by those words. Otto distrusted the entire field of traditional medicine, and Matthew was just collateral damage.

Realizing how serious Otto looked, Matthew didn't know what to say. After a pause, he said, "I'll show you a few people." Then, he headed straight for the bare doorway.

Otto sighed. He instantly knew he'd said the wrong thing the moment he spoke. After all, Matthew stood up for him and kicked Denny out.

Even though Otto was confident that his comment about traditional medicine being foolish was true, it was too much of a blow to Matthew's pride.

Upon seeing that Matthew didn't get mad, he felt a sense of relief. He quickly caught up with Matthew, curious about who they were going to meet.

Otto suddenly felt a tap on his arm. He turned around and spotted Durban giving him a meaningful look.

He slowed down his pace, creating some distance between himself and Matthew. Then, he asked, "What's going on?"

Durban warned, "Can you think before you speak? Have you forgotten the trouble you went through at the previous hospital? You really want to start off your new job by getting on his nerves?"

Otto sighed and softly replied, "I don't want to say it like this, but traditional medicine is no longer relevant. As a doctor, I can't just say things that aren't true to flatter anyone."

Durban was frustrated. "If you can't say something you believe, then just don't say anything. You…"

He still had things to say, but then he saw Matthew glancing back at them, so he quickly shut up.

Matthew held the elevator door open. Realizing they were still behind, he called out, "Hurry up."

Otto and Durban spoke pretty softly. But since they were close to Matthew, he could still hear bits of their conversation.
