Morton slipped away from Anthony’s reach and hurried to Charlotte’s side, shooting Anthony a suspicious look. “Who is he?”

“He’s my boyfriend,” Charlotte said, opening a bag of snacks. She popped a piece of dried fruit into her mouth, then held one out for Anthony.
