On the way back to the hotel, Charlotte settled in, her head leaning lazily on Anthony’s shoulder while her legs sprawled across his lap. She scrolled through her phone with an easy, playful smile, completely relaxed.

Anthony sat right beside her, one hand around her waist, eyes flickering between her game and Hans, who was giving his report.

“They said they’re open to making peace, but they want X Organization to give up the Eastside territory,” Hans said carefully. His voice dropped when he got to the demand, almost like he was afraid to say it out loud.

Eastside territory? Charlotte’s eyebrow arched, just a little. That was the turf she’d nearly lost her life fighting for, the one she’d tried so hard to win but failed. If Anthony just handed it over now…

“They want Eastside?” Anthony’s fingers pressed lightly into Charlotte’s waist, massaging her absently as the corners of his lips curled into a cold smile. “They’re gutsy, I’ll give them that.”

Charlotte didn’t say a word.

“We stick to the original plan. I want everything wrapped up by tomorrow.” Anthony’s gaze drifted back to Charlotte, his brows drawing together. “Lottie needs to get back to her classes.”

She could ace every exam without showing up, but he still figured it was good for her to have the whole school experience.

“Yes, Anthony.”

Hans had barely finished when three huge trucks suddenly pulled out of nowhere, boxing their car in tight.

If those trucks rammed them, it would be over.

“Anthony, Charlotte, look out!” Hans shouted, yanking the wheel. The car jerked hard, swaying before he managed to steer them toward the side of the road, into a safer spot.

“Anthony, it’s the Hamlet family.”

Trying to go after God on Apex’s turf… they must have had a death wish.

As Anthony’s sports car shifted out of the way, the convoy behind them moved up, filling in the space immediately.

Suddenly, the night was full of screeching tires and gunfire.

“Leave a car to handle the mess. Get the injured to the hospital.” Anthony’s jaw clenched as he glanced over the wrecked cars. “Let’s move. Hospital.”

Charlotte glanced at him, unable to hide her curiosity. The boss of X Organization, personally taking his men to the hospital… She couldn’t help but smile to herself. He seemed so caring now. Where was this side of him when he was tearing her organization apart, not leaving a single thing behind?

In the hospital, Anthony went into the room to check on his men. The smell of blood hung in the air, so he told Charlotte to wait for him in the hallway.

She was back on her phone, lost in her game, when someone in white suddenly appeared in front of her. A bright, sweet voice followed.

“Asclepius, is that you?”

Charlotte looked up, slow and a little lazy, only to see a young nurse beaming at her, eyes shining with excitement.
