“Another DNA test?”

Anthony glanced at her, then slipped a slice of orange into her mouth. “It’s sweet. Your favorite.”

Charlotte took a bite, chewed thoughtfully, and her expression softened. She sneaked another look at the orange in his hand, clearly wanting more.

Anthony grinned, feeding her another piece. Watching her enjoy it, he asked, “Do you think the DNA report was wrong?”

“No.” Charlotte turned off her phone, tossed it into her bag, and stretched out, settling comfortably in his arms. She draped her legs over his, swaying them back and forth. “It just feels off, that’s all.”

“What’s off?” Anthony grabbed a napkin and gently wiped some juice from the corner of her mouth, his fingers lingering in her hair.

He’d arranged the test himself and was certain about the results.

“Steven’s just… too nice to Olivia for someone as selfish as he is. And…” Charlotte looked up at Anthony, her eyes bright and serious. “Honestly, with his IQ, do you really think he could have a daughter as smart and adorable as me? What do you think, Anthony?”

Anthony was caught off guard for a second, then he couldn’t help it—his smile grew wider and he let out a soft laugh.

It was the first time he’d heard her brag like that.

Charlotte sat up, glaring at him, her cheeks puffed in mock anger. “What are you laughing at? Do you think Steven’s a genius, or that I’m not smart and adorable?”

The ruckus made Hans, who was driving, glance back. The look on Charlotte’s face nearly made him laugh out loud, too.

“That’s not it,” Anthony said, still smiling. He pulled her back into his arms, holding her close. “You’re the smartest and most adorable person in the world.”

No one could compare.

“Hmph. You’re sleeping in the study tonight,” Charlotte said, turning away and curling up against him, already finding a comfortable spot. “And I want more. Feed me.”
