Rachel’s face twisted in fear, tears streaming down her once-beautiful face.
She looked at Jackson, pleading with her eyes, utterly desperate.
Jackson knelt beside Rachel, lighting incense in front of my photo. “Rachel, you were
right—I’m guilty.”
“Cheating on her was a crime. Seeing you frame her and doing nothing was a crime.
Believing your lies was a crime. Letting her walk into danger alone, time and again,
was a crime.”
“But Rachel, are you innocent?”
“You’re the one who said Jenna was dirty for associating with our clients. You’re the
one who claimed she bullied you. You’re the one who hired men to harm and kill
her…”
“We’re both guilty.”
“We don’t deserve Jenna’s forgiveness.”
“So, we both deserve to die!”
Rachel spat out the rag, screaming as she fell to the floor.
She sobbed and begged for mercy, saying she was wrong, that she’d serve her time,
just please spare her life.
Jackson looked down at her with cold indifference, as if she were already dead.
He picked up a hammer, testing its weight. “I’ll shatter your knees, pull out your nails,
break your fingers. Rachel, this is the punishment we both deserve.”
I was terrified, and in a desperate move, I slapped Jackson across the face.
Maybe the heavens heard my prayers, because this time, my hand actually touched
his face.
Jackson’s head snapped to the side, stunned.
Rachel let out a shriek and fainted.
It took Jackson a moment to realize what had happened. His hands trembled with
emotion as he crawled to me, clutching at my legs. “Jenna, I knew it… I knew you
were still here. It’s okay, everything’s going to be okay.”
