Max gave a light laugh and glanced at Andrea, who was heading their way. “You really can’t let Andrea find out you have a little sister. If she knew how much you cared about her, she’d definitely get jealous.”

Darin shook his head. “Look, I don’t mind you dating Andrea, but until you deal with your own mess, there’s no way I’ll let her move in with you.”

Max just smiled, not saying a word.

Andrea came over, eyes bright. “What are you guys talking about?”

Darin just grinned. “Nothing much.”

“Felicia, what is your deal? Do you honestly think you’re that important?” Sandy slammed a pile of files onto Felicia’s desk.

Just a minute before, Sandy had tried the usual trick, dumping work on Felicia that wasn’t even hers. This time, Felicia didn’t even hesitate—she just said no.

Felicia looked at Sandy, who was practically shaking with anger, and gave a cool, mocking smile. “Sandy, if you can’t handle your work and need to shove it onto someone else, maybe you should quit.”

The whole office went quiet. People stared, wide-eyed, like they couldn’t believe what they’d just heard. It really sounded like Felicia had reached her limit and was ready to walk away.

Sandy’s face twisted with rage as she stormed forward, hand raised to slap Felicia. But Felicia grabbed her water cup and threw the water right at Sandy’s face.

Sandy stood there, dripping, frozen in place for a second before she shrieked, “Felicia, you shameless, fat cow!”

“What’s going on in here?” Isaac’s voice cut through the chaos. Sandy stopped short, her hand still in the air.

Isaac marched over, his expression dark as he took in Sandy’s soaked face. “What happened?”

Sandy sucked in a breath. “I gave Felicia an assignment, and she refused to do it.”

Honestly, it was fine. She needed to talk to him anyway.

Felicia looked right at Marian, her voice icy. “Are you the maid here, or am I? Should I call Miranda and tell her you’re trying to act like the lady of the house?”

Marian’s face changed color. The timid, obedient Felicia she was used to was gone. Now Felicia was standing up to her, completely unafraid.

“You’re crazy. Completely impossible,” Marian snapped, then turned and stomped away.

Felicia slammed the door shut. The loud bang made Marian jump, and she immediately pulled out her phone to call Tatiana.

Felicia leaned back against the door, tilting her head up as she sucked in deep breaths. All the pent-up frustration crashed over her, and tears started streaming down her cheeks.

That night, Max came home. Marian rushed to greet him, eager to tell her side of the story.
