Mandy called to see if Anne was home and said she wanted to stop by. Anne glanced at Felicia. “Evelynn, is it okay if I head home now?”

Felicia just nodded. “Why don’t we invite Yara to come over too?”

“Sure,” Anne said right away.

Felicia pulled out her phone and called Heather.

After they finished their dessert, Felicia took Anne and they left the mall. Dean drove them back to Oakridge Estate, and when they arrived, Amber and Mandy were already waiting for them at the villa. The two women greeted each other, warm but a little reserved. Amber overheard Anne calling Felicia “Evelynn” and for a second, she thought maybe they’d finally reconciled as mother and daughter. But it didn’t seem so. She kept her questions to herself and acted like she hadn’t noticed anything.

About fifteen minutes later, Heather showed up with Yara. Felicia introduced Yara to Mandy, and just like that, the mood lightened. Amber knew Heather was Jeremy’s sister, so even though they’d barely met before, conversation flowed easily. Mandy led the two kids upstairs and down, showing them around and keeping them entertained.

Meanwhile, Felicia, Amber, and Heather settled into the backyard with tea, soaking in the afternoon sun and chatting about everything and nothing.

The afternoon slipped by before they knew it. Soon, it was time for Felicia and Heather to head back to West Hill Residence. Wyatt came by himself to pick up his wife and daughter. He greeted Felicia, everyone said their goodbyes, and then left with his family.

Heather watched them drive away, a wistful smile tugging at her lips. “They’re so happy together,” she said. “Mr. Gilbert really seems like the perfect husband.”

Felicia grinned. “My brother’s a good guy too.”

Felicia’s gaze drifted to them, and just then, Max looked over. For a split second, their eyes met across the crowd. His dark eyes were unreadable and calm.

Felicia didn’t react. She looked away as if she hadn’t seen him at all, her expression cool, like she was glancing past a stranger.

“Felicia, let’s go take our seats.” Jeremy’s voice pulled her back.

By coincidence, Felicia was also wearing a blue gown that night. The back was draped with a delicate line of diamonds, accentuating the elegant curve of her back. Under the lights, the diamonds shimmered against her flawless, porcelain skin. For a moment, she looked like she’d stepped out of a dream, so striking that people couldn’t help but stare.

Andrea’s blue dress drew attention too, and it was obvious just by looking that it was expensive and beautifully made. On anyone else, it would have been showstopping, but tonight, all eyes lingered on Felicia.
