Felicia kept her eyes down, not saying a word.

Luke didn’t push her for answers.

Anthony came over, his voice gentle. “Felicia, are you alright?”

“I’m fine,” she replied quietly.

“You probably haven’t eaten yet. Do you want to come have dinner at my place?”

Felicia shook her head. “Thanks, Anthony, but I’m really not hungry. I just want to go home.”

Anthony nodded. “Okay. Get some rest when you get back.”

Luke pulled up the car. After saying goodbye to Anthony, he drove Felicia away from the villa neighborhood.

The drive was quiet. Felicia slumped in her seat, her head turned toward the window, staring out at the passing scenery with a blank, empty expression.

Luke glanced over at her, worry flickering in his eyes. He didn’t have to ask. It was obvious things with Max hadn’t gone well.

He let her have her silence, keeping his focus on the road.

Felicia didn’t go back to the Ross family house. She headed for her place at Oakridge Estate instead. The last thing she wanted was to bring her mood home and make her family worry.

When the car stopped, she got out. Luke stepped after her.

“Felicia, are you sure you’re okay? I could stay tonight if you want.”

She managed a small smile. “Really, I’ll be alright. I just need some time alone to clear my head. Don’t worry about me.”

Luke didn’t push it. “Alright. You’ve had a rough day. Try to get some rest. Things will get better.”

Felicia nodded and walked into the building, her figure seeming smaller as she went. Luke stood there watching her disappear, fighting the sudden urge to run after her and pull her into a hug.

He didn’t move until she was completely out of sight. Only then did he turn and get back in his car.

Felicia went inside and sat down on the living room couch, the whole place dark and silent around her. She didn’t bother turning on the lights.

Felicia listened patiently, responding to every little detail, her voice gentle and encouraging.

Time slipped by, and before she knew it, half an hour had passed.

Just then, Felicia heard a door opening on Anne’s end, followed by Tatiana’s soft voice. “Anne, your dad is here.”

Anne glanced toward the door, then turned back to the screen, eyes shining. “Evelynn, do you want to say hi to Daddy?”

Felicia offered a small smile. “That’s alright, Anne. We can talk more tomorrow.”

Anne looked a little disappointed, but she nodded. “Okay. Bye bye, Evelynn.”

“Bye, Anne.”

Felicia ended the call and the room fell silent again. The emptiness came rushing back, cold and heavy. She felt the sadness rise up, threatening to drown her as she leaned back and stared at the ceiling. Tears slipped from her eyes, silent and unstoppable.

Outside her door, Jeremy stood quietly, his tall frame a shadow in the hallway. His hand hovered over the doorbell, but he couldn’t bring himself to press it. He just waited there, hesitating, unsure what to do next.
