Savannah didn’t flinch. “Alright. So how exactly do you want me to pay, Mr. Hawthorne? I’m just a nobody here, so whatever you say goes. Darin’s with you, isn’t he? Why not let him know I hit his sister and settle everything at once?”

Felicia watched Savannah, suddenly painfully aware of her own weakness. Her husband was openly protecting another woman, and she couldn’t even take a single step forward to stand up for herself. Gritting her teeth, she finally moved to stand in front of Max. “Miss Curtis tried to hit first. Savannah was just defending herself.”

Max’s cold stare shifted to Felicia, his voice even colder. “You don’t get to speak here.”

The words hit Felicia like a punch to the chest. Her eyes trembled, and she couldn’t bring herself to look at him anymore.

“Mr. Hawthorne, such a romantic man, aren’t you?” Anthony’s voice cut through the tension.

Jeremy and Anthony walked over, Darin following behind. Earlier, when Savannah had gone back to the private room, she’d quickly filled them in about running into Andrea and Felicia having something for her. Jeremy had waited a while but got worried and went to find them, running into Darin on the phone outside.

Darin saw Andrea wrapped up in Max’s arms and then looked over at Savannah.

“Darin!” Andrea called out, her voice full of grievance.

Darin’s eyes landed on the red mark blooming across Andrea’s face. His brows pulled together.

“So Miss Curtis got slapped? Look at that cheek. Maybe we should rush her to the hospital. What if her face never recovers?” Anthony’s tone sounded urgent, but the mockery was clear as day.

Savannah jumped in. “Yeah, better get a helicopter. If we wait, she might actually heal before we get there.”

Andrea’s face turned even uglier as she listened to their banter.

Savannah glanced at Felicia, then at Andrea, who was still clinging to Max’s side. In that instant, everything clicked. She glared at Andrea with even more open scorn and contempt.

Andrea met Savannah’s eyes and felt a jolt of anger. She never cared about Felicia, never even saw her as competition. But Savannah was different. Savannah was a real threat, and Andrea knew it.

“Mr. Foxhall, Mr. Hawthorne, I’m sorry,” Jeremy said, voice steady and sincere. “Whatever happened, Savannah shouldn’t have hit her. How do you want to handle this? As long as it’s reasonable, we’ll cooperate.”

Darin just stared at Savannah, his face unreadable. “Whoever threw the punch should apologize.”

Jeremy looked at Savannah. “Apologize to Miss Curtis.”

Savannah stared right back at Darin, let out a short, bitter laugh, and shook her head. Apologize? She’d rather take a slap herself. “Might as well just hit me yourself, Mr. Foxhall.”
